@Justin_Albers: IU-Louisville series would be great for everyone involved. Kentucky doesn’t want to play on campuses? Oh well, their loss. #iubb

Can someone explain to me how UK has lost anything by not playing IU? It doesn't seem to have hurt them one bit this year.

The biggest loser of the IU/UK series is IU.

We lose:
-Our marquee non-conference matchup.
-fanbase morale. (no-rivalry game to look forward to)
-lost experience in not playing the #1 team in the nation.
-lost experience playing a tough team on neutral court. (Which is helpful in March)
-lost opportunity for older BBN and IUBB fans to travel and cheer on a rivalry game.
-recruits and young players experience with a top college rivalry.
-we replaced a UK game with cupcake.

Yes, I would like to play them at assembly... However, if the option is "play UK at a neutral site" or "no UK game" why would you agree to "no UK game"?

How about we play them in Florida so that I have an excuse to go to Florida now!

Because that would be bending over backwards and giving Cal exactly what he wants, he has enough of an ego as it is without that.  We offered him a more than fair compromise and he declined.

I've always been clear on this.  I'd rather play UK than not, regardless of the venue.  If the game had to be played in Siberia, I'd still be for it.  That game is about the fans and tradition.  It should never be about egos or fair compromises (that goes both ways).

Exactly. There is NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT UK that should make INDIANA UNIVERSITY need to acquiesce to their desires and play neutral court only. Coach Cow (Coward) is afraid to get his clock cleaned in corRUPPt, because as long as he's not man enough to lose to Indiana at home, it didn't happen.

It doesn't hurt them one bit. They have owned our butt for 20 years. It isnt even a rivalry anymore so lopsided. All risk for them to play us see 2011. Their non con. always has plenty marquee matchups. IU should JUMP, I mean JUMP at the chance to play them at neutral sites. Guarantees us a marquee game every year AND is great for the thousands of fans not big donors or students who couldnt pay the price on campus. I, for one, LOVED the neutral site half red half blue games. Bring em back.

Really? You think Indiana is gonna go into Rupp and clean house? Have you looked at the product both schools are putting on the floor? I don't think thats a worry....any time soon.

in 12, yes we very likely would have. And one coach was man enough to want to find out, the other wasn't.

That's because you see stars not teams.

We land a quality big and it would be a worry next season.

UK has home and homes with UNC and UL so this was not a big deal to them at all. IU needed this way more than UK did so Cal pretty much was going to have it his way or see you later. I think IU should have just played the neutrals but either way UK has done a fantastic job filling the schedule while IU not so much.

UK plays North Carolina home and home every year. A big rival. That is a much better chance for a home loss vs us over a given time period. Cant think he is afraid of us . With IU if Cal wins he is supposed to and if he loses in Btown he get court stormed like we just won a title. Look at it from his point of view and it is very understandable. DO NOT GIVE CREAN A PASS IN THIS.

IU is just as much at fault in this as UK. Say UK wins that game that year and this series still ends. Is it still a huge deal? I don't think so. I think schools are playing more neutral court games for tourney simulation feels to get the players a good taste of what march will feel like.

I think you're wrong.

They won't if UNC starts waxing them. If it happens, watch and see.

Indiana WANTED to play in Rupp. We wanted to beat Kentucky in Rupp. Cal wanted no part of it. I wouldn't let him squirm out of it either.
