Michigan Vs Indiana Post Game Thread

Agree. Same can be said for Troy, though his issues are a bit different than James'

We are close but close isn't good enough.

Yeah troy seems to want to play good D but overplays looking for the spectacular play and looses his man in the process.

The other problem is when yogi gets caught in the switch with a big down low and there's very little he can do.

Not big enough and no weak side help.Maybe Hanner can work back into the rotation.

I feel like Troy plays ADHD defense.  If he just concentrated on his man and looks to help without completely losing his man he could be a really good defender.  He could elevate the entire defense too.

Same on offense Slow down n think. But mainly slow down

I don't think he's getting "caught" down there. I think often times, that has been by design as crazy as that sounds. Crean has commented multiple times that Yogi has played some of the best defense on the 5 as anyone on the team which is truly astounding.

Glad to see hammer get a little run although not liking what I'm hearing about his eagerness to get healthy and back. Kudos to him for hustling on that open layup that was missed. Signs of life when I see that kind of play from someone

I sometimes think Crean is blowing a little smoke but this is one area I'd definitely say I agree on. Yogi seems to really work when he gets in that position. I like watching players that I really feel hate losing compete. Most guys don't WANT to lose but some guys HATE it. That's one of the things I liked about watching players like Bird,MJ, Isaiah Thomas, Magic, and a few others. They'll do anything to win! Yogi isn't on those players level but to me he just looks like he hates losing!

Your right baby bull. Inside scoring kills us. The problem is most of it comes from wide open driving lanes, not dominate post play.

A little bit of both.I would say Kaminsky was pretty dominate against us.Doyle had  I think 17 today and doesn't average half that.

They lobbed over us several times today because the defender was a half a foot shorter than they were.

Yogi's great but he cant guard centers.

Michigan is very scrappy despite their shortcomings.  Never doubted we would win, even as it got a bit too interesting.

We are close to securing our spot in March.  I think another 3 wins does the trick, although I'm hoping for more.

Switching screens lands yogi guarding the 5 spot. That is avoidable. I understand that we are undersized, but that is no excuse for bad defense in general. Bigs are going to score on us. There is no excuse for dumb mismatches and open driving lanes.

I am glad we got the win today. Don't get me wrong about that. It is just frustrating watching sloppy poorly coached basketball, and rationalizing why it's ok. It's not ok. If the big wasn't way down this season we wouldn't be sniffing the tourney again.

To your first part, the switch that puts Yogi on the 5 is an attempt to get a mismatch on the perimeter, and Crean trusts it because of the way Yogi fights for position against a 5. I'm not sure how well this strategy pays off, but I believe it's completely intentional, not a coaching/execution mistake.
