Really disagree with this. Last time we played UK it was the most talked about regular season game of the year. When the series was cancelled we were #1 in country and they were defending champs. That 2012 game would've been the biggest non-conference game going into the season nationally.

Yes a lot has happened since then but the reason the UK game doesn't happen now isn't because it's not high profile enough for them. If we played each of the past 2 years it would've been a national game on CBS or ESPN.

Your profile comment isn't true.  Sure we've been down, but the brand of Indiana still has some value.  There would be far more interest in the game than there would be if they played Dayton or Central Michigan.  Indiana vs. Kentucky resonates, that game would be picked up by national networks and would definitely get viewers.  Cal is a sleazy bucket of scum but he's not stupid, he knows an IU/UK game would get his squad under the bright lights and in front of cameras of major TV networks.

 

If we would've agreed to a 2-year deal, neutral-sites only the game would still be happening.

I pictured us playing UK this year, I got chills down my spine.  That would be horrendously ugly.

That might be because Ky could put as many of their fans in Pauley as UCLA can and it would be a lot like a neutral.

That would never happen here.

Very funny CC---I was not referring to them fearing us this year.   They would crush us right now.  Hopefully not by tourney time---I would like IU to improve to the level that we get a shot at them in the tourney.

If we can get the ball in bounds and up the court against them we're going to have to shoot about 60% from 3.

As much as we'd (IU fans) would love this... AT THE MOMENT those schools really don't have much to gain from scheduling a series with us. They really don't have much to gain if they beat us, but a lot to lose if we upset them.  It's the sad reality of our current position and reputation in the cbb world.  It's going to require drastic improvements for our program stemming from Crean turning things around, a dynamite new coach, a new AD, or a miracle run in March for us to be relevant to earn a national TV game against the powerhouses atm.  I think it goes without saying, this is just my honest opinion, and im not stating these thoughts as a fact, I very well could be overlooking some benefits for scheduling us...

 

TL;DR we are too weak on paper, teams have nothing to gain for scheduling us.

Well we have Louisville this year.
