Blackmon One and Done?

Recommended Posts

I started the thread out of frustration. Blackmon was a five-star McDonalds recruit. Seeing him average 20 for an average IU team makes me scared he will leave early. Sure, throw out all his flaws and expect him to stay 3 years. Then consider him getting picked apart each additional year he stays. I'm scared he sees his potential draft pick ceiling is what it is after this year and he leaves.

I used UK bc of the closeness and familiarity with their one and dones. They have guys that have seasons half as good as Blackmon go first round. They had Archie Goodwin playing in the NIT and he went first round. Blackmon was also recruited by Cal and you know that one and done had to be a selling point. I'm guessing it has to be in his head.

Maybe I'm just gun shy after Vonleh and I apologize for calling you all delusional. Too many beers last night.

You guys are delusional. No one needs to be a complete player to get drafted. The NBA uses the D-League more like minor league baseball than they used to. Teams will take higher ceiling players and let them develop.

Blackmon is easily good enough to go late first. If he improves this year, lottery isn't out of the question.

No they don't. Silver wants to, but the D-League is nowhere close to the what the minors are in MLB. It is going to take years of developing for the D-League to get there

It has been brought up, but he is nowhere good enough defensively to play in the league, and he isn't good enough offensively to make up for his defense. Not to mention his handles need work, and he isn't a distributor, or he hasn't really shown to be one

He may not be ready but we all know the NBA drafts off potential

Eh, but how high is his ceiling. Even at this level he wouldn't be considered much special athletically speaking. Then you take that to the next level, where you almost have to be a good athlete to be solid defensively. Then adding in he doesn't have good fundamentals defensively..... etc.

He's the perfect college guard. :)

Here's to 3 years of Blackmon. Heck Vijay put up 34 in his HS debut this year. Maybe we take him too. He always had to play second fiddle to James at the games I watched. Interesting to see how his season goes.

Absolutely true, but that more fits guys like Troy Williams who are athletic freaks but need skill refinement. JBJ is a tweener guard that can't play defense or handle the ball well, he's not really a "potential" draft pick.

When you pick on potential you're picking the 6'7" guy that jumps out of the gym but needs to develop a jumper, or the 6'11" long athletic big that needs to work on some post moves, a 15ft jumper and get bigger.

He may not be ready but we all know the NBA drafts off potential

I agree totally BGleas,There's not a guard in the league that JBJ could guard right now.If he works hard on his defense maybe he will get an opportunity..Hope for him he can because its his dream but hes got a a long way to go to get there.

Good thread and good discussion---JBJ is good D away from the next level---still seems 2 years away.

We all knew he could shoot---but I have been surprised with some explosiveness he has shown in the first few games.

IF--and it's a big IF---he dominates the Big Ten he has a chance---but defenses are going to be gearing up for him.

His development will be fun to watch as we see if he climbs the draft boards.

Ugh, no just no. Besides Jimmy Butler on the Bulls already owns that highly questionable tag. :-P

I like JB3 myself.

lol I call him JB2, as in James Blackmon the 2nd/ Junior. Sloppy Janitor is the best one. I've seen JimBombs (Hova), Jimbo, Black Man, Captain One N Done, JB. Any others we are missing?

I saw the pictures of JBJ with his brother---Vijay---who appears to be getting taller ----but not even with JBJ yet.

Anybody know what kind of season Vijay is having?

I wouldn't mind getting a good Blackmon---Gordon--Watford legacy going.

agree. Vijay had 34 in what I think was his first game.

Call me crazy, but is he a first rounder right now? Funny thing is, Yogi and Stan think they are. Gosh, I hope they go "pro" after this year.

Are you trying to say that these 2 are cancerous to this team? If so, I'm with ya
