No Holt?

Recommended Posts

Guards played awful perimeter defense but the bigs didn't exactly do the best job of contesting shots in the paint. Holt may have been able to use and his length the at least contest shots

Holt also missed the 10 practices and ensuing trip to Montreal plus came late in August.  I just don't have much faith that you play him for 10 minutes in a game at this point and he will result in +4 points for us over anyone else.

No one, I repeat, no one could have played worse than Hanner. Troy had no answer either. So no I don't believe when an EWU player says "They weren't doing anything defensively" that we could not have put someone in there. Holt, April, Priller, none of those guys could have done worse. Worst defensive effort I have seen watching Indiana.

Holt stats vs Lamar ( minus his deflection count )...5 minutes...4 points...1 steal...2 rebounds....put that 5 minutes up against 5 minutes of Hanner in any game so far and pretty similar if not better....come on....emotional state still an excuse? I dont buy it...Crean just forgets the kid is on the bench or he is incapable of giving him enough time to get moving.

I would be pissed if I was Holt... and I'm sorry young man. Crean blew what was going to be a dominant year for you and brought you here to waste you on the bench while we get destroyed by poor to average big men..... what an absolute sham.

I really thought the point of Holt would be so we could at least have 5 extra fouls for someone to at least be serviceable on defense. Apparently, Crean will release him when he is a uber-monster down low that can't be stopped. UNLEASH THE CRACKIN'

Why wasn't a big man put in just to stand there and disrupt them driving and laying it in every friggin' minute! I understand i'm not a coach but i do know that we needed some kind of change to the post. ANYTHING! TW was nothing on defense as well. yeah, he got a few dunks but that is all i see him good at. He is always out of control. I lost count on how many times he was on his back

IU used to be known for its defense. I'm old-school and I never thought I would see our team play as badly on "D" as they did last night. That really hurts.

 I'm with you Laz.

At this point I'm wondering if I will ever live long enough to see another really good IU team.

That statement from Coach Crean about the last 14 seconds of the game was unbelievable.

You want to lengthen the game so you go for a layup instead of a three down by three. After they score  Blackman hits a three. All this with timeouts to use. That's some great strategy there.

Woodson1980, at least we are old enough to remember when IU basketball was great. Those were special times. I feel bad for the young IU fans who have never experienced the thrill of seeing their school win a national championship. I hope we can get back to the top again but Crean is not going to take us there. He just doesn't have what it takes as a coach. Sadly, we recognize that.

So if Crean doesn't have it, what does it take? Everyone has a lot of neat words and phrases but few ever provide any substance to go with the comic quips. I ask, what does it take to be the kind of coach all you guys want?

Mike Davis took Indiana to the national title. Mike Davis. Kevin Ollie just started coaching and already took UConn. Is it some kind of magic? No coaching tactic got UConn to that position...Napier and Boatwright and Daniels did.

Indiana's biggest problem right now is that it hitched its wagon to some of the wrong guys. They got fooled. There's a reason no one wanted Troy Williams. That is what kills you, not who IU misses on in recruiting. It's the ones we've gotten that are screwing us...
