IU vs SMU Post Game Thread

I love the minutes for JB and Yogi. Troy needs more than 23. Troy hopefully will trend to 30 or so in tough games. He was dynamic as a hustler/slasher/rebounder IMO. Hanner should go down to 25 or less if he is playing like he did tonight. Only 9 minutes for Stan. Kind of surprised but probably appropriate, will interesting to follow that. 9 played tonight. I liked that Max got some run. He'll hit those shots in most games. Hartman was solid again. Fully admit, I'm shocked at his improvement.

Glad it was a W, but we have some things to iron out.

Thought I had the wrong thread!  Cold sores and diseases?  WE WON!

Lots to be excited about---the low turnovers were huge!

And we still won on a cold shooting night for us----good things happen when we get 3 points for every 2 the other team gets!

I made you this gif. It might LITERALLY be the worst gif I've ever made. It's like a crappy tumblr gif.

Watching the replay of the game.

-  RoJo had two first half threes that were inside the cylinder, keep shooting young fella

-  Troy looks better on the break but still forces it a bit, got bailed out on a few calls

-  Scored with about 10 seconds left in the half without calling a timeout

-  Perea had good help side defense but left the weakside wide open for offensive rebounds

I think this will be a quality win by seasons end. I liked our poise when we got down by double digits early. Hartman really provided a spark off the bench. Max is not shy. Troy seemed much more comfortable than last year. JBJ and rojo are really good players. Yogi is one of the best PG in the country, glad he has help scoring. If Hanner's skill set catches up to his body, look out! Nick is going to be steady for us all year. We must team rebound, that could be the difference in many games. Go Hoosiers!

All these guards need to watch some JIm Thomas tape speaking of team rebounding. That aggressiveness is what it will take with the size deficiency.

I did like that CTC addressed in the post game interview on BTN that he wasn't happy the ball wasn't touching the paint on a lot of those jump shots. I know we are going to be a jump shot and 3 pt shooting team but we have got to do a better job of getting the ball in the paint.

Nice win last night. Will be more of a challenge to beat good teams on a neutral court and on the road because the team is young and not very strong inside. Hanner is tall, long and can jump out of the gym. When you have those assets, there's no need to get faked out so much. I hope the staff works with him on waiting for the opposing player to shoot before he gets up in the air. Hope to see Holt in the next game. Good team win!

Here is on of the take-aways I saw and hopefully continues in the future.

Obviously we have the shooters this year and I see our offense as a play action pass (ala Manning).

If we start hitting the threes, the defender will have to open up the middle and that's when TW and Stan will be the effective wings.  That is effective as long as we hit the three.

This can be a really difficult offense to defend if executed correctly.

We couldn't have done this last year.
