Hoosier 7 ft Man O' Mystery Sweepstakes

Recommended Posts

No kidding. I almost feel like this has nothing to do with basketball and Crean or higher ups just enforce the A-hope program. Now April isn't from that program but it is a head scratcher and I would LOVE for someone to just ask the question on a radio show one day. Why do we bypass serviceable big men that will truly develop over a few years for 7 footers that have only been playing bball for 4 years meanwhile the glaring hole on our team is the big position. Sooo glad Crean or whoever in the staff snagged up Holt. Goodness gracious. I now feel like we avoided a train wreck of a season

Except for PJ and his injuries and Guy Marc and his elegibility, I never understood why Bawa and Jobe didn't play more. Especially earlier in the seasons against cupcakes when that is when they played anyway. Give them more minutes to see if something can be done like with Blap before. You just can't coach 7', and it really makes the staff look bad on three counts. 1. You can't develop projects. 2. You can't recruit projects. 3. You may get run off. I would rather see coach make the commitment to stay with these project centers if they are in good academic standing. Its not their fault Coach offered a scholarship.

I think you're being too optimistic (!)

The coaches see these guys everyday in practice. Quite simply, none of them were good basketball players.

That fact has nothing to do with Jerimiah April, who may or may not turn into a very good player.

Those are the same coaches who offered them scholarships. If they aren't good enough to ever play, they should have been vetted better and not been offered in the first place. It has everything to do with April based on how we've recruited in the past. Isn't it the same staff?

Absolutely true...to a point.

Bawa should have NEVER been recruited, and should have been vetted better.

Tijan was a great student and a late summer 1st year (for this staff) addition when we had a team manager and a bunch of walkons as our second five. He was an emergency get, and he has more than made up for it by serving as a great ambassador for the university and a GREAT avatar for CampCrean. ;)

PJ became damaged goods just before his arrival. The player who we offerred and who signed was quite possibly a much different one.

ALSO: recruiting is a game of hits and misses. Like all other major programs, we have had unexpected hits, unexpected misses, AND hits who looked at first to be total misses (Colinn Hartman, anyone?!?). Hopefully, April is an unexpected hit. Whether will be is completely unrelated to Bawa, PJ, Jobe, Holt, Oladipo, or any others.

Updated totals. Look out PJ...two more rebounds and one more point and he's gotcha!

1)  Tijan Jobe career IU totals: 15 points, 31 rebounds

2)  Bawa Muniru IU career totals; 11 points, 13 rebounds

3)  Peter Jurkin IU career totals: 2 points, 4 rebounds.

4)  Jeremiah April IU career totals: 2 points, 3 rebounds.

AAAAANNND...HOLDING.

37 DAYS LATER.

Sigh.

39 more days have passed, but we finally have an update...

AND A CHANGE IN THE STANDINGS!!!

1)  Tijan Jobe career IU totals: 15 points, 31 rebounds

2)  Bawa Muniru IU career totals; 11 points, 13 rebounds

3)  Jeremiah April IU career totals: 6 points, 5 rebounds

4)  Peter Jurkin IU career totals: 2 points, 4 rebounds

LOOK OUT BAWA...JEREMIAH APRIL IS COMING AFTER YA!!!!

And there you have it:

The 7'0" Man O Mystery Sweepstakes has been suspended until our next "ProjectwithgoodhandsIthinkhecan developbutheneedsmoreminutesandifhestaysinjuryfreeandlearnsalittlebetterEnglishwemighthavefoundadiamondintherough" dude arrives in Bloomington.

Frankly, I owe y'all an apology. I should have known better.

No one, and I mean NO ONE can compete with the original Crean era 7'0" Man O Mystery; the Nambian Thriller, the Liger, The Master of four fouls in three minutes. The only man capable of simultaneous catching a pass with his forehead while inadvertently delivering a nut-shot to the other team's center. The one, the only...

All Hail Tijan!!
