Tommy gets the win last night!!

Stevens, the 6-4 Indiana quarterback recruit, delivered a 22-yard touchdown pass to Ray in the back of the end zone with 15.7 seconds left to give the Class 5A eighth-ranked Hawks a share of the Mid-State Conference championship.

Playing in a stiff wind all night, Stevens' numbers (13-for-19 for 123 yards passing and 69 rushing yards and a TD) weren't outlandish. Franklin, for the most part, limited big plays and used a strong running game (248 yards) to control the clock.

The Hawks' attention now turns to the tournament and a Sectional 13 matchup in two weeks against a Zionsville team that upset Fishers 27-17 on Friday. A win would mark the first in sectional play for the program since 2007.

The atmosphere for the OSU game is going to be a big sell. Hopefully the game is of a similar result as last year's and the crowd dies down quickly. I was at the PSU/OSU game in State College in 2005, and if you thought the 2011 IU-UK game was intense...

Stevens could end up at Penn State and never even start a game. Franklin is recruiting QBs like Crean recruits wings. Hackenberg has regressed under him as well.

This doesn't look good. I hate Penn State FB.

I don't like the idea either, because it's showing that he isn't mentally buying into IU at this point. He's going to be overwhelmed at Penn State. It's not even a question. Penn State and IU are polar opposites in the Big 10. Imagine a kid visiting a Penn State basketball game and then coming to Assembly Hall. That's what is going to happen this Saturday. It doesn't mean its a done deal by any means, and even objectively speaking I'd rather play QB for Wilson at IU than for Franklin at Penn State (O'Brien was a different story), but Penn State is selling kids on being a part of what is to come, like Crean had been doing during our rebuild.

This would be a very bad decommit. We always talk about how we have to keep kids instate. Losing a top, instate QB recruit (for a second time...) is not good momentum. Wilson might have been able to survive this sort of loss early in his tenure, but considering our QB situation with the injuries and transfers, he cannot afford losing a prospect like this in the scheme of building his team. As it is now Stevens could easily be the 2016 starter. After four years we shouldn't be at the point where we are so reliant upon an incoming QB recruit. For an offensive guru as a coach, we should have a stable of good system fit quarterbacks who are capable to lead the team if the main guy goes down. We do not, and given QB is the most important position on the field, it severely hurts the overall development of the team. Not having a starting caliber QB ready might as well be considered starting over.

We can talk about getting another prospect, but it would be very difficult to get someone as good as Stevens from the 2015 class. And 2016, Wilson might not have the luxury of being able to sell to a kid we are going to build the offense around you...

I saw a quote from him after the game that said the visit "was everything he thought it would be and more". That game atmosphere was absolutely insane Saturday night too. Everything that has happened so far is worst case scenario for IU. The schools, football wise, are much different. But he won't have the same opportunities at Penn St as he will at IU. Kevin Wilson better make him his #1 priority and make sure this one doesn't get away from him. Time to show his recruiting muscle.

Stevens is still listed as an IU commit. Any update on this end? Even though we haven't had a QB for the last month, Penn State has been a QB hell-hole right now with Hackenberg flipping out on the field at this teammates and coaches. We play Penn State this weekend, so is Tommy expected to be in attendance?
