LIHoosier Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Thought Holtmann would've got another year with the B1G commissioner leaving this summer.Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk Quote
Demo Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Apparently official. Always felt like a pretty poor fit, but would not have bet on just a stone fail. Stuhoo, OliviaPope40, mamasa and 2 others 5 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Doing it now gives them that much more time to gauge interest, screen candidates and be ready to make an announcement just as soon as the next guy's season ends. New guy can immediately hit portal season and spring AAU. OliviaPope40, go iu bb, Ryno6284 and 2 others 5 Quote

But I remain a big Bruce Thornton fan, so if he wants to go ahead and jump in the portal I can think of a landing spot for him…. Quote

Hovadipo Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I was coming here to throw McDermott's name out there without even seeing Trilly tweet it. That would not please me. FortWayneHoosier, Ryno6284 and OliviaPope40 3 Quote

Miller apparently wants to get back to the big leagues but not sure if OSU wants that, I've heard Paris mentioned a lot but he's unproven. Quote

Kentuckysucks Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 The B1G is about to get a whole lot better. OSU and UM aren't messing around this time. We're in trouble. AKHoosier 1 Quote

Archie has zero chance there. They could do way worse than Paris. In fact, they probably will. Quote
HoosierTrav Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 That tweet makes me want to walk right there. We’ve fallen so damn far. We’ve mismanaged a brand that would have easily been able to attract higher quality candidates than OSU. Look at that list. Nate Oats would be a similar hire for us as Kelvin Sampson, in regard to his upside here and the caliber of coach. This should be an extremely sobering moment for every single IU fan with crimson colored glasses. Quote

Does Gene Smith hire the replacement or does Ohio State hire Smith's replacement as AD and let that person hire this next coach? Quote

Demo Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 McDermott is actually kind of a fascinating deal. His name comes up on every job and the guy has seemingly never entertained actually leaving and he doesn’t leverage it into extension after extension. Dude just seems perfectly happy where he is. OSU has already hired Ross Bjork from Texas A&M, but your question still stands as he technically doesn't start until July 1. I can't imagine he won't have a say. JF87 1 Quote

Would think it would be Bjork. I'm sure the next HC hopes so since he gave Jimbo the absolute Mother of all buyouts. go iu bb and str8baller 2 Quote

Unexpectedflash Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Am i misremembering or didn’t Greg have an agreement with OSU before they hired holtman that fell apart? He’s a great coach but he’s 60 so hopefully he doesn’t want to leave. Quote
