There is a ton to complain about with college officials, but IMO the biggest gripe is how NCAA officials just hunt out charges to call.

It's ridiculous.

It is a charge no matter what if the defender is outside the arc

I think you and I have agreed before that the charge/block call should just be taken out of the game.

I believe so. I do think there is such a thing as a charge, but it isn’t when you grab your junk and take a dive before, during, or after the offensive player gathers. That’s just not a basketball play and it gets people hurt.

If it were out of the game, why wouldn't an offensive player just bump his way into the lane?

Conversely, what keeps a defender from undercutting a player if there is no block/charge?

Kansas st hits a 3 to take a 1 pt lead.   Baylor ball 31 sec to go

Baylor just dribbled ball out of bounds.  Should be Kansas st ball up 1 with 6 sec to go

Yay, we got a break for once!

Think we got UNC at the right time too. They were coming back from Portland playing 3 games in 4 days with Bacot nicked up. I don't think we win that game with who UNC has available and who we're missing.

I mean it really isn't that difficult. There would still be offensive and defensive fouls. But, offensive fouls would be much different. It'd really just be fouls because of the extension of the arm, clearing with elbows, hooking, out of control rumbling and bumbling like a fullback. At the same time, defended couldn't just purposely get bowled over and get in the way. Literally anywhere on the floor you can't "impede" the path of offensive players... UNLESS, the defenders decides to get ran over in the paint. It's stupid. It'd make the game much more simple and free flowing.

We can speculate all we want, but the results are the results. I thought IU should have won a national championship in '75 if not for Scott May's broken arm. But IU didn't and the result was a loss to Kentucky. Revisionist thinking does no one any good.
