Uspshoosier Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Someone bump this old argument up from earlier in the year? Seems a little early to be repeating arguments that have been made less then 2 months ago. We still need to repeat the rankings don’t/do matter before we repeat the strength of opponents argument. No one cares if we beat some mediocre Notre Dame or Butler teams. But playing UNC? That’s causes hype. That helps our image more if we are competing with them. We can play a better opponent in Indy. Pretty sure we could easily play Kentucky in Indy without any issues. I bet he’d agree to 3 straight years in Indy and boom. A better game for us than playing Butler or Notre Dame. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Brass Cannon Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 We can’t do that and the CBS sports classic. Quote
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 We can’t do that and the CBS sports classic. It doesn’t have to be a part of the CBS Sports Classic. Games can be played without all that happening around it. We should be playing Kentucky every year and I don’t really care where. During our off years from the Gavitt Games we need to replace it with someone else and preferably a team not in the ACC, SEC or Big East. But hell if Quads are all that matter, just schedule some teams in the 40’s and play some neutral games. Or better yet, some teams ranked in the 60’s or 70’s and play on the road. Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 As of now we’ve only played 3 ranked teams in the Crossroads Classic. #23 Butler in 2014. #18 Butler in 2016. #18 Notre Dame in 2017. We went 2-1 in those. Which Indiana and Butler both went 6-3. Also annoying because we don’t get a 3rd opponent. Butler never gets to play Notre Dame because two Big Ten teams are in it. Do you consistently have Baylor on your mind due to the one time a year they play Kentucky? No. You build perception by winning in the season and in the postseason. Like when Indiana does play Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky. You don’t get that playing Butler and Notre Dame. It’s just a decent matchup. If we still had an 18 game conference schedule, I wouldn’t mind having Notre Dame as a 4th game for us outside of 3 bigger ones. I don’t care to play Butler. Honestly they are more annoying than Purdue. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appJoe (Xavier) nobody outside of Southern Indiana and some people sprinkled in are getting hyped for Indiana to play anyone. It’s not the names that gets you hyped it’s the teams involved. If we are good, yes they are great for TV. We will always have viewership. But fans from Syracuse don’t give a damn if random IU plays Kentucky. It’s your perception you are worried about. Nobody else’s perception. You are the one placing hype if IU plays Duke. For one night. Perception and hype are two totally different things. Both are good when your team is good. Not because our name is Indiana and we are playing a Duke. But if that is perception/hype what you need, Duke has that about 40 games a year. We used to be the same way and our decline isn’t because we quit playing Kentucky. Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Dwyane Wades son reclassified from the 2020 class to the 2021 class. He was ranked #197 in the 247composite. Had offers from Rhode Island, Toledo and DePaul. He’s only 6-3. Just a little shorter than his dad, but has some bounce. Surprised a bigger school didn’t take a swing on him just to have DWade attend some games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
