College Bball Thread

Sounds like RP knows he will have to earn minutes and knows he may or may not start next year. He is comfortable having to work to earn minutes. He sees college basketball as a 4 year commitment that is about basketball as well as his future. He wants to play for IU and be an IU graduate.

I have to believe Archie was very upfront with Phinisee and made it clear that Garland was still a priority target and Phinisee committed knowing that fact.   For all we know, the conversation could have been along the lines that Phinisee redshirts if Garland commits and then still has 4 years of playing time after spending a year building his body and honing his PG skills in practice.

That would be an ideal scenario with Garland playing a year or two in Btown before getting drafted. Then we'd get 3-4 years of Phinisee running the team

If you don't want to read the article Cohill says that when CAM first recruited him he told him he was too much of a big time player to go to Dayton. Dayton fans not happy about that comment. It is safe to say he won't be telling that to any recruits now

Well Archie wasn't wrong to be fair. Wonder if this changes the decision making of OSU and Hunter

How would this affect OSU or Hunter? Not following.

I'm guessing Archie's words are being misconstrued. Likely meant it as a compliment, and the recruit probably understood that.

Anyway, good pickup for Dayton, seems like a cool program.

A lot of people thought he was an OSU lean.

"But Duke just came out flat against Indiana in the Sweet 16, losing 74-73."

I thought they had an 18 or 19 point lead and faultered.

Ummm yeah, that's someone who didnt watch ONE minute of that game. Duke was kicking our @$$ up and down the floor, and I'm 99% sure they had a 20-point lead in the first half.

That's is certainly not coming out flat.

One of the best IU games ever, IMO, given the stage and the opponent, culminating with Moye's block of Boozer.  I have the game on DVD dubbed over with Fish's radio play-by-play.

For those talking about the IU and Duke 2002 game here is a box score with stats. I was in a friend's hotel room during spring break watching that game and I remember we were excited after the game and then went swimming.

IU with an 8 man rotation and Duke with 6. Interesting. Crean had me thinking you need to play 11 and at least have 1 walk on getting major minutes.

Honestly my first thought was no wonder Crean wasn't too concerned with Turnovers. 23 turnovers and we still beat them

That 2002 stretch was what really turned me into a true diehard.  As a student the excitement on campus was unreal.  I remember those games and those nights to a T.   Moye was my dude.

My first IU memory was watching Cloverdale hit a half-court shot that got reviewed and decided he shot it too late I believe. I was probably 6-7 years old. My dad & older brother both jumped up and were screaming out of joy when he hit it, naturally I followed suit. At that point I had no option but to love IU. Good memories!
