College Bball Thread

Off thread. But haven't seen a BTT thread yet. Was wondering if anybody has some decent price tickets for Friday's game.

I plan on looking at scalper tics on friday morning. There may be people who bought all session tics, that for some reason do not plan to attend that session.

I'm surprised very few of us think we can. I think we can do it.

Statistics say our team is not built to win it. Since 2002, no team outside of KenPom's top 40 in AdjO and AdjD has won. There's always a first time, but that's a pretty significant statistical trend.

Are those numbers reflective of the whole year ? We are a completely different team since Blackmon got injured. I think we can beat anybody. This is the first team in the Crean era were I feel real comfortable going into a tournament .

Yes they are, but so has every team's rating since 2002. I agree that our defense is much better, but I don't think we'll see it meet the statistical benchmark set by champions since 2002.

Well once again we are at a impasse . I'm going to disagree but leave it at that.

I'm not really in disagreement with you, statistics are. I think, with the way the top teams have been playing this year, statistical outliers have a shot this year. And I think we're hot at the right time. Trust me, I'm an optimist.

As Martin said in a different thread, I think the new shot clock throws a little wrench in the numbers this year, but the rules are still the same for everyone.

I like to think of a VCU from 2011. They had an amazing defense, causing turnovers with their Havoc D, but were statistically only ranked #84. I think they played up-tempo so they gave up some points, but were able to score with anyone due to turnovers and points off turnovers.

While we don't have a Havoc D, we do have an up-tempo style of play that will probably add possessions and see higher scoring games on both ends.

Another cool trend is just in recent years.... Since 2010 all but 1 runner-up falls outside of this 40/40 club. (2010&2011-Butler, 2013-Michigan, 2014-UK, 2015-Wisky)

If IU can just make the Championship game

I would think we have a chance at breaking that National Championship statistic especially if we got hot from 3 like they are capable of doing.

Very interesting. Bitter and I were talking about IU being a potential outlier in another thread. Let's hope!

Yeah at this point it is sunshine pumping. I really do think we can score with anybody in the country. We can also go cold from 3 and have one bad single game and it could be it. With our improved defense and possibility of a good tourney draw I am liking our chances and actually looking forward to the tourney this year.

In years past (12-13 excluded) I have been more worried or pessimistic about the tourney. Not this year!!!!!

I am worried about neutral site games. Really haven't seen how we play against top talent at a neutral site, other than ND.
