Former Hoosiers Weigh In on IU's Issues

This is from the past but it seems like this should be in everyone's locker. Jordan Hulls in response to Terry Hutchens's question, "What does it mean to be a Hoosier."

A Hoosier is someone who...

• Puts his teammates before himself.

• Holds his teammates and himself accountable for doing things the right way, no matter what.

• Understands that you're a role model for some kid out there and that you never know who's watching you on or off the court.

• Understands to treat people with respect and to always take time out to sign an autograph or take a picture because it is the right thing to do and you should be humbled that people know who you are.

• Understands the importance of getting a good education because you can't play basketball forever.

• Understands that it's an honor to run out onto Assembly Hall with those Candy Striped Pants and that it should never be taken for granted.

• Understands why there isn't a name on the back of the jersey and the rich tradition at IU.

• Understands that it takes team work, hard work, sacrifice and dedication to get to where you want to be; individually and as a team.

• Understands that WINNING MATTERS.

I will always be thankful that I was born a Hoosier and later was able to play basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers. It doesn't get any better than that.

... but from a leadership aspect, players and coaches alike can lead as much as possible but it is ultimately up to the individual...

 

... to make decisions and act in a way that will reflect positively on your teammates, coaches, and your school.

Us former players wouldn't come back as often as[...]We do if that was the case @TomCrean is a great coach and human being. The players currently there just need to get there priorities right and realize they are playing for something way bigger than themselves

I think the point is correct though.  As a locker room these kids need to stop focusing on what has already happened.  There decisions alone have put them in this position.  As Jordy says go attack it and reverse this trend.  Prove us all wrong.
