Conclusions from HH

Recommended Posts

At HH I noticed a lot, in basketball and Bloomington.
1) Energized team- they ought to be FUN to watch this year.
2) HMP got every rebound that would've landed in the paint.
3) Troy Williams was said to have raised his vertical 5"! He also looks very fluent compared to last year.
4) Devin Davis might've put on more muscle this off season than the rest of the team combined.
5) Nate Ritchie might get some minutes... In 3 years.
6) Fans cheered loud for CTC(surprised)
7) The new IU commercial is AWESOME!
8) Gas in Bloomington is 35+ cents higher than in Southern Indiana!

My pair of crimson shaded glasses got an extra coat of crimson last night. I think we're going to surprise a ton of people this year. Jimbo is nuts, Yogi is improved even more, Hanner is competent, and everyone else has improved in their own ways. 11. More. Days.

Stan was very aggressive in the scrimmage, JBJ was practically carrying his team, we have lots of of guards that will cause problems for other teams, Hanner is our only big man when looking at the team via the Eye Test, Robert Johnson elevates a lot on his Jump Shot, Max Hoetzel has a real nice stroke, Collin Hartman has a long ways to go, this might be the best group of Walk On's we've ever had.

I came out super impressed with Blackmon Jr. Id seen him play in high school several times and last night was the most confident and most dominant Id seen him. He scored close to 20 pts in a 20 min scrimmage…. Yogi's ball handling looked great. Perea looked great on the defensive end. Still a little nervous on offense. (Though I would argue that he didn't get EVERY rebound in the paint. He let a few get away from him, but looked great haha). Rob Johnson looked very confident. Zeisloft knows how to work off the ball and hit the open shots. Stan is still a great penetrator and really knows how to work off the ball. I came away really disappointed in Troy. He looked great in Canada but was basically non existent in the scrimmage. He did have two dunks where it was a 1 man fast break, but apart from that he looked the same from last year. I'm going to let it slide cause it was a scrimmage though

I am still in shock at the thought of Yogi and JBJ terrorizing other teams---especially offensively---my goodness!

Yogi is improved and so fast---I think now I know why Crean is still recruiting for next year.  This may be Yogi's year to make the jump.  He and Troy have the chance with great years.

And JBJ--wow--he has stated he would like to be one and done---I always thought 2 for sure---but he has a chance too!

Let's enjoy them while we have them---I predict this years team far exceeds preseason expectations!

Hanner and DD showed improvement and will be solid in the middle and Holt will develop and help them as well.

Rojo--Stan--Troy---Z3 all solid----Max good offensively--still must improve his defense.

And--we do have some talented role players and walk-ons as well.

All in all--good scrimmage and should be an exciting year!

1. I am very nervous that Hanner hasn't become the player we had hoped. We will be a great shooting team but we are going to get destroyed down low if we don't play team defense.

2. Nick Zeisloft will be an X factor in all of our games in various ways. I feel so much better knowing we have that leadership.

3. The hype is real for RoJo and Blackmon. Solid

4. Holt doesn't play like a Freshman. Seems to have a great basketball IQ

5. We are going to run and if we can cut down on turnovers, watch out.

6. Yogi is a stud. No surprise there. He was taking liberties with the long ball

7. This season is the biggest "who knows" season of IU basketball since Cody's frosh year.

8. We probably aren't getting Bryant

#4 is a definite for me as well. He's got "something" that can't be taught. He squares up on the offense very well.

CampCrean--- I agree with you on all points except number one---still haven't seen enough of Hanner yet.  DD is more polished from what I saw at Hysteria but Hanner is so freakishly athletic.  I actually thought he looked improved over last year---and hope he improves by leaps and bounds as he finally gets more playing time.  Great analysis.
