So PG made comments about the fans booing the Pacers losing to the Knicks...... and immediately a group of the fan base turned on the guy. I'm a huge PG fan obviously, but I think it is weird how much this city, Indy being the main fan base, seems to love to hate/dislike the best players on their local teams. Go read comments on Luck or PG, and its like they do nothing right, and everything that goes wrong is on them. You can go back and look at comments on Manning when there were questions on whether or not he would ever play again, and he was getting lots of hate. People talk about how bad the Philly fan base is, but I mean Indy sucks at supporting their players and franchises.

I think it just goes with teams that being ran so poorly despite having such a talent. With players like PG and Luck there's no excuse for either team to be as bad as they are. That frustrates fans.

Big news of the day was Troy recalled by the Grizzlies although he did not play in last night's game.

Gordon was a last minute scratch due to a stiff back.

Good shooting night for Vic and Westbrook with another triple-double.

Cody did not play due to quad contusion.

Sorry I'm late this morning - no phone, no TV, no internet --  thank you Comcast.

Big news yesterday - Yogi signed a 10-day contract with the Mavericks and hopefully will have the opportunity to demonstrate what he can do.  Also yesterday, Watford went from being a teammate of Z on the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants to being a teammate of Sheehey on the Raptors 905 as he was traded.

Gordon missed another game with a stiff back so Harden just did it all with 51 pts., 13 reb. and 13 assts.

Cody missed another game with a quad contusion.

What a great way for Yogi to start is career with the Mavericks.

Gordon returned to the lineup after missing 2 games with a stiff back.

No D-League  games for IU guys.

Yogi was the only IU guy with a game last night, but what a game it was as the Mavs stuck it to King James.  Absolutely awesome start for Yogi as a Mav and he's already been signed to a second 10-day contract.

Cody MIA in another game with a quad contusion.

Will's second consecutive DNP game.  I don't follow the D-League closely enough to know if he's injured or it's a coach decision.

CWat's first game with the Raptors 905

Not a great shooting night for Yogi, but he did have 5 assists and only 2 TO's in 38 minutes and the Mavs are on a 3-game winning streak since they put him in their starting line-up.

Cody out again with injury.

Note: I used 247Sports for this. Their database only goes back to 2003.

So in my research from HS classes 2003(LeBron James) to 2015, there are 75 players that are in the NBA who were ranked outside the Top 100. That doesn't include those were weren't ranked at all. There are 450(?) NBA players. Almost 17% of NBA players are in that category. There are 78 who were in the top ten of their recruiting classes(like our own Eric Gordon who was #1 and Cody Zeller who was #10). Just over 17% of NBA players come from that. There are 146 I think who not ranked, too old for the database or came from overseas. That's about 32.5%.
The real reason I researched it was because of people saying that "rankings mean nothing" or "they are never accurate" or pointing to a guy like Oladipo and saying that rankings don't matter. But they seem to matter quite a bit. If each year the rankings reach to 500(which 247 can get to 1000). There are 75 who were outside the Top 100 and let's say they were all in the top 500(even though a guy like Patty Mills was actually outside the Top 1000). Since 2003 there would have been 5,200 athletes ranked from 101-500. Basically saying there is a 1.4% chance of reaching the NBA from that spot. The Top Ten has had 130 players. So a 60% chance.
Those numbers will rise and fall but that's where they are at the moment. So rankings do matter in the gran scheme of things and are fairly accurate in the long run.

All that shows is rankings mean something if you care about results getting to the NBA. When I view rankings I only view them as it is specific to the college game and in my opinion they don't mean as much to me as others in here. There will always be people on each side of this argument until the end of time (me on one end and Wayne on the other lol). There is no right answer

I agree with you rankings aren't the end all be all in the 30-200 range.

For example, I like Justin Smith and Clifton Moore better than Jordan Tucker.

I also agree about College success and NCAA success are different. Of Note. Ben Simmons and Noah Vonleh.

I DO think 5 star players in general are VERY good and getting multiple players like that will make you a winner in NCAA with all other things being equal.

Last thought. Landing primary or secondary targets has always been important to me and I think it reflects on "our/your" program. We start off offering 5 stars, then 4 stars, then 3, then UR. To me, public perception of that is that our staffs recruiting assessments often mirror the corporate ratings. Also, when you miss down the line it's a bad look.
