Why not? Phoenix just hired James Jones as VP of basketball operations and he really likes Kyrie. I could see him lobbying for a trade for him.

The Knicks were going to give Carmelo away for Austin Rivers. I'm not sure that they would trade away KP, but the Knicks are on Kyrie's list and the only way they get him is by giving up KP. It just depends on how much they would want Kyrie.

The Cousins trade, to me, seems like a deal that the Pelicans would make. The spacing with Davis/Cousins just doesn't work, and keeping Davis is their biggest concern. A trade for Kyrie would give them an all-star guard to pair with Davis and make it more likely that he stays.

Maybe none of those trades would happen, but those are the kinds of offers that Cleveland should be demanding for Kyrie. They don't have to trade him right now, so they're not going to just give him away. You could point to the Pacers giving away George as a counter example, but they could've gotten a better deal for him if they would've been willing to trade him to the East. They just didn't want to risk him staying in the conference.

Oh I have no doubt Phoenix probably still wants him, but I doubt they give up that much for him. NY is not giving up Porzingis in any deal for Irving. Melo and picks is what they're trying to offer. Also, Kyrie doesn't have a no-trade clause, so his list doesn't mean anything.

Yeah I know, I was trying to say more along the lines that him putting the Knicks on his list as a team he wants to play for could make them more willing to make a high offer. If they trade Kyrie for Melo and picks I'd be beyond ticked lol, unless they flip the picks for someone like Bledsoe.

Whatever happens I'm intrigued. It might not make them better, but what they had wasn't good enough and this will be something new.

Unfortunately for you guys Phil still isn't running things in NY because who knows what kind of ridiculous offer he might make.

Your vastly overselling how popular Irving is. He might excite the fans at the game but he's not going to fill empty seats.

And he's not a good enough talent to justify getting what you think the Cavs will get.

Lol. He has the #5 selling jersey so he might have a few fans.

Conspiracy Theory time.

Stephen A Smith (I know) is saying that Kyrie believes that LeBron and his team are the ones behind this leak. SAS isn't the most reliable guy in the industry and can be pretty obnoxious, but he's been saying that Kyrie is unhappy in CLE for a while now. What if LeBron and his people are doing this to reduce backlash for when he leaves Cleveland again in a year. There was such a shitstorm when he left for the Heat, imagine him doing that again. It would be brutal... unless it looked like he was just leaving a sinking ship.

Oh Jersey sales clearly a good indicator. For something completely different

You said "you're vastly overselling how popular Irving is." He's been top six in jersey sales for the past three years. #6, #4, and #5 to be exact. Steph, LeBron, Durant, and Westbrook were the only people ahead of him this year, and they're the four most popular players in the NBA. It's a pretty strong correlation. Is it a perfect indicator? No, of course not, but people don't buy jerseys of players they don't like. Kyrie is #2 in signature sneaker sales of all NBA players. That is also a sign of popularity.

#5 in jerseys and #2 in shoes and you don't think he's very popular? How would you determine if a player is popular or not?

Mannnn this is exactly what I was saying. I think Bron has every right to leave he did what he set out to do, but he also doesn't want to get torn apart over leaving again. If Cavs go the young asset route for Kyrie it makes perfect sense for both to part ways.

On a side not I believe the Cavs should ask for a similar return as the Bulls got for Butler. 2 young pieces and a good draft pick or another young guy w a vet.

There's something about 11 that beats 6. Kobe's one of the most overrated players of all time and I really don't understand why some people consider him a top 5-10 player of all time

God the #rings argument is so dumb. Like you alluded to with 11 vs 6, nobody would try to argue that Bill Russell was a better player than Jordan. Kobe was a great player. Give young LeBron a prime Shaq and he wins those titles too.

Jordan's just using Kobe as a buffer to try and stop people from comparing him and LeBron. If you compare Kobe and LeBron it really isn't even close.

Lol Kobe won 5 titles playing in the tougher conference with significantly less help from the officials.

He might not be as good of an individual player as Lebron. And despite his feuds with certain players he is a significantly better teammate and thus was able to stick around without running to Miami to lead a team to a ring.

Give me a choice between an 18 year old Kobe or Lebron I might choose Kobe simply for the maturity on the court that he showed before his 25th birthday  not to mention to avoid Lebrons meddling in management that has consistently set the Cavs back

Your hatred for LeBron really keeps you from being able to give reasoned takes. Do you remember the NBA in the early 2000s? People complained about the referees helping the Lakers just like you complain about the NBA helping LeBron. Do you remember that WCF against Sacramento? It's believed by many that the NBA literally fixed the series so LA would win.

Kobe's maturity? You mean assaulting a girl and running off one of the all-time great centers? Kobe demanded a trade in 2007. LeBron has never demanded a trade, he plays out his contract and then reassess things. Sure, he "stuck around" but had he gotten his way he wouldn't have.

Kobe was a great player. I know when he was 25 everyone tried comparing him to Jordan then. That fell off quick. Kobe has some things Lebron doesn't, but overall talent Lebron is better imo. Kobe is top 10 for sure. But Lebron is around that top 5 for sure.

It's like you missed the part where I said Lebron is the better player. Despite that he's not this paragon of greatness you have in your head.

So you would choose the worse player to start your team with then? That doesn't make much sense to me. If you're starting a team in a vacuum you don't get to add Shaq, Phil Jackson, and the massive LA market too.

I think the ringz argument is a bad argument, and personally I think LeBron is better than Jordan (as you all know lol), but that's beside the point. With Jordan you can go past the rings and point to a multitude of reasons to argue that he was better than LeBron. You can't do that with Kobe when you compare him to LeBron.

How can anyone justify an argument on anyone being a better player than anyone else? The only thing you can really debate is who the best player of this era is. That is clearly LeBron. Jordan, bird, magic played in a different time, as did russell, Chamberlain, and Robertson. Its really kind of tough to debate who is better in this era. Kobe had shaq, who was a dominant force for a while in L.A. LeBron has had really good teams that he has played with. But consider this: what if Reggie Miller had played with Michael and the bulls? What if Michael didn't have scottie, rodman, etc in the latter half of the career? These are all variables that go through my head when I see debates like this. That's why I just don't try
