While true he can drive the trade by saying he won't sign an extension somewhere. He is essentially on a two year deal and the 4 teams he requested are more likely to offer more than other teams.

This is just an extremely fascinating scenario to me, so much going on. The timing of this, well after the majority of FA, is crazy and surely making a lot of GMs pull their hair out. Boston has to be sitting there smiling as Cleveland self destructs a year early and they have a great chance to overtake the East now. Who trades for Kyrie? Or does Cleveland actually trade LeBron instead and hang onto Kyrie? Also hilarious because Cleveland just hired their new first time GM today. Welcome aboard, now fix this gigantic mess.

Lol if he tells a team he doesn't want to play there flat out they will reduce their bid.

I'd trade Lebron but he's probably got a no trade Clause.

I'm kind of excited about this tbh. The Cavs as currently constructed can't beat the Warriors. They can get a good haul back for Kyrie. Hopefully it includes two way players because they're severely lacking those right now.

Maybe. He's on a two year deal so a team could trade for him to sell seats even if he doesn't want to be there. Plus if he makes an all-NBA team he can sign a super max contract or whatever it's called, which is likely if he's on a crappy team.

I think the only two teams not on his list attempt to trade for him beyond those on his list. Houston and OKC. Neither of which is a solid fit. But those are the only two teams going for it right now.

NY is going hard after him. Phoenix has been after him for a while now. I could see Denver hopping on board too. A deal of Faried, Barton, and Mudiay for Irving would work financially. For Phoenix you could be looking at something like Irving and TT for Bledsoe, Chandler, and either Chriss/Bender.

Trading LeBron would be the most foolish thing the Cavs could ever do. They wouldn't get anything valuable back in return, and their championship contending window would close as soon as he leaves.

Lol you only have 1 year anyway and even with Irving it's non existent next year.

Lebron's not going to accept a trade to a team that has to gut its roster to get him. The only way to get fair value is to gut a team's roster. Cleveland still offers LeBron a cakewalk to the finals. They can trade Kyrie and improve their roster. He's an offensive maestro but he doesn't play defense and can't facilitate. A Bledsoe/Jackson, Melo/KP, or a Cousins trade would improve the Cavs, imo, and none are pipe dream trades.

Lebron fans continue to crack me up. You talk about it being just so easy to replace Irving and improve the roster. If it's so easy to trade him and improve the team why weren't they trading him before he asked for it.

It reminds me of Paul George they could have traded him before he asked for it.

To be fair I don't think anybody thought the Pacers could trade George and be better next year.

Reading comprehension man. I never said it's "so easy", just that's it's possible. Which it is. Kyrie is a phenomenal scorer, but he's one dimensional. The Cavs' problems weren't with their offense. They put up 113 points or more in each of the last 4 games of the finals, they just couldn't stop Golden State from scoring 125+. A trade that brings in two way players would improve the team. A young, athletic wing would give the Cavs someone to put on Durant for 35 minutes a night in the Finals. Durant would still get his numbers but it would allow LeBron to play free safety on D and exert more effort on offense. 

The Cavs were shopping Kyrie before the draft. David Griffin was working on a deal that involved him, but Dan Gilbert disagreed and let Griffin go. Kyrie has two years left on a very cap friendly deal. He's a top 5 scorer in the NBA, and he's an electric player who would put fans in the seats. They can get a quality return for him, and if the offers are too low they shut off the phone and keep him on the roster.

They could have had Bledsoe/Jackson (or PG) before the draft but passed on it. Now they have a little less leverage so Phoenix isn't likely going to give up both.

Why not? Phoenix just hired James Jones as VP of basketball operations and he really likes Kyrie. I could see him lobbying for a trade for him.

The Knicks were going to give Carmelo away for Austin Rivers. I'm not sure that they would trade away KP, but the Knicks are on Kyrie's list and the only way they get him is by giving up KP. It just depends on how much they would want Kyrie. 

The Cousins trade, to me, seems like a deal that the Pelicans would make. The spacing with Davis/Cousins just doesn't work, and keeping Davis is their biggest concern. A trade for Kyrie would give them an all-star guard to pair with Davis and make it more likely that he stays. 

Maybe none of those trades would happen, but those are the kinds of offers that Cleveland should be demanding for Kyrie. They don't have to trade him right now, so they're not going to just give him away. You could point to the Pacers giving away George as a counter example, but they could've gotten a better deal for him if they would've been willing to trade him to the East. They just didn't want to risk him staying in the conference.
