True, but owners wanted a gradually increasing cap, players wanted an immediate jump. Now there needs to be a fixed cap, or the introduction of a franchise tag imo. 

It won't get any easier. It is expected to take another $20+ million jump next summer. Don't be surprised when you read "LeBron James signs for 5 year $200 million"

That's where my mind was at as well.  At what point do the teams price themselves out of the market?  I think of baseball and how many teams were required to reduce ticket prices due to lack of attendance.  But what the NBA has going for them is that their arena's are much smaller so it's hard to judge. 

Ultimately, it will be interesting to see where that threshold lies.

This is what I hate about the NFL right now. I am a Bears fan. If I want to watch them play the Cleveland Browns during the regular season I am paying well over $100 per ticket for nosebleeds. At Soldier? That is hell. Only chance I get to watch the Bears in person is in Indy and their prices are getting up there.

He didn't need to bring anyone in. With Russ, Vic, KD and Steven Adams, they could for sure battle Golden State for years to come, but instead he joined them, and made this a lot less entertaining.

From my understanding of the NFL revenue stream and its distribution (I don't know if NBA is the same), it shouldn't really affect the ticket price.

The increase in the salary cap is determined by revenues, not by any other outside force. It's just a revenue distribution method between the league and the players. So, the salary cap goes up because the ticket prices go up, ticket prices don't go up because the salary cap goes up. There's no way to recoup the costs.

Actually, that's not entirely true. They're connected in that revenue from private boxes and from outside stadium events are not shared. So, teams build new expensive stadiums with a lot of boxes to avoid paying into the stream (which increases ticket prices because new stadium) and to attract more concerts and stuff.

Yeah but common sense dictates that if it is going to the players then its not going to the owners thus their desire to increase ticket prices to recoup expenses. A la a new tax (soda tax for instance). The store will pass the tax increase on to the consumer as to not effect their bottom line.

It's not OBVIOUSLY much better. KD had them down 3-1 and his play lost his team the series. He had a team fully capable beating Golden State.

I respect Durant for making his own decision, but it most certainly puts an asterisk next to his legacy, IF he wins ships in the Bay Area.
