I'm not a Patriots fan but let's not act like other teams haven't altered the balls.

Brad Johnson said he paid for altered balls before the Super Bowl.

Aaron Rodgers said the Packers will sometimes over inflate the ball and try to slip it past the refs.

Cameras showed attendants during a Vikings game using heaters to warm the balls up, which is also illegal.

It's illegal, they should be punished, but they are hardly alone.

I can't bring myself to read any more articles on this because it makes my blood boil to see the highest rated comments saying things like "who cares if they cheated? look at the score! lololol."

I despise cheaters. I was fortunate to grow up with parents, teachers and coaches who made it known early and often that cheating would never be tolerated. It infuriates me to see so many people acting like it's not a big deal because someone else may have done it.

I go back to when the patriots finally started "clicking" on offense again. Wonder if that was when the deflated footballs started happening.

The colts said it was deflated back in November as well. You can't be certain it didn't impact the Colts game either. How many dropped passes did the colts have in the first half? How much easier is it to catch and grip a ball in wet conditions with out all the air? Momentum Is huge in sports, that certainly changed the game.

BIgger than that, how about all the great catches throughout their entire season, deflated ball will definitely make it easier to do.

Cheating is cheating in my book. They intentionally let the air out because they knew it was an advantage. An advantage they didn't end up needing to win, but you can't say oh we cheated but we didn't need it, that was just in case the game was close...

In a perfect world, the patriots are disqualified from the playoffs this year. With the super bowl upcoming, you would then have the Ravens and Colts play for the AFC championship game since those were the two teams affected by the playoff cheating.

Worst case bellicheat, Brady, the center and the wide receivers should be suspended. There is no way that those guys didn't know what was going on...

Sucks to be NFL brass this year for sure.

In your perfect world the NFL would be punishing beyond the scope of it's own regulations.  The most they could do is a fine and take away draft picks.

Let's set aside that the investigation isn't over and nothing has been released to say it was deliberate which means you're just jumping to a conclusion.  Where's the outrage over the Packers over inflating the ball?  According to Aaron Rodgers they do and according to NFL rules it's cheating.  Where's the outrage over the Vikings heating the ball up?  They were caught on camera and according to NFL rules it's cheating.  There wasn't any of this outrage in either case.  The only reason people are making this big of a deal about it is because it's the Patriots.

If it was deliberate, and nothing has been released as yet to say it was, they should be punished within scope of the NFL regulations.  In your perfect world there would be just as much outrage over the Packers and Vikings, because as you said cheating is cheating and according to NFL rules both of them were.

Haha the Pats.  It's funny they haven't won a Super Bowl without 'spygate.'  If they've been caught for 'spygate' and now for 'deflategate' what else have they done without getting caught?  The NFL doesn't care to punish them because it would effect the league more.  The cheats will keep cheating unless they are dealt with appropriately.  It's a joke but so are most professional sports.  It's all about the money.

Haven't a lot of people said it was easier to grip when it is slightly deflated? I know on Mike and Mike they said something like that. Has been the basis that it wasn't a competitive advantage because of this.

Or are you getting at the point that there is maybe a 2% chance the Colts were preparing to play with deflated balls,

The colts didn't play with deflated balls. I'm looking at this as the patriots cheated. They altered the rules and went around them to give them an advantage. If there was no advantage then why would they do it?

The difference between Rodgers over inflating the balls and Brady under inflating the balls is that Rodgers did his BEFORE the refs checked and many of his balls would fail and have air let out. Brady's balls passed the inspection then were adjusted.

Just look at NASCAR and see what happens if they find out you changed your car AFTER they check it... It's a big DQ.

Nah I agree. I'm just talking about what I've heard/read. I know specifically on Mike and Mike, Greenberg said something about it being easier to grip and how that was an advantage for Luck.

I get that other people have done this, but it is still cheating. Saying there is no competitive advantage and/or the final score proves this comes off as asinine to me
