Off Season Progress/Notes

I guess the negativity is even starting to get to my head. Lol

Just take some deep breaths and drink some warm milk. It'll get better.

Just want the season to start so I can hear some 3s hitting net. Can't wait to watch RoJo play.

Just got some intel...sounds like the starting 5 right now is Yogi, Jimbo, Stan, Troy, and Hanner. Maybe not a shocker, but it's news.

Aka, the starting line up that basically puts the most experience on the floor haha.

Agree. I think that 3rd guard spot where Stan is will be pretty interchangable with Rob and Z.

I think it's a good move to have RoJo on the bench. Its sounds as though he'll be our primary ball handler when Yogi is resting.

So many weapons on offense..
If Crean can utilize plays to fit our style and advantages/disadvantages, we can seriously do some damage. We've got

Yogi- at the 1, up top, a shooting threat, not to mention, a quick, elusive driver
JBJ- probably biggest perimeter threat and a smooth jumper
Nick Z- an accurate swift shooter who has a quick release and knows the concept of spacing probably better than anyone on the team and in turn, gets open effectively
Troy- an athletic machine who can jump to the moon and showed signs of an improved jumper in Canada
Rojo- a great visionary scorer who has the ability to play the point or the 2 very efficiently
Stan- our " get to the basket and draw fouls" guy. Oh and he's developing a ambidextrous shot.

And those are just our main 1-3's. Devin is looking strong physically. He just needs to practice boxing out and powering up for rebounds/putbacks. Like.. All day.. Everyday. Same with Hanner and Holt. Not the most athletic bigs, but bulking up and maybe hitting the squat rack would be ideal for them.

This season is going to be 'mysteriously fun'.... Betcha never heard that phrase before;)

Forgot I got some other intel the other day. Bubbleknuts just reminded me of it. Was talking to some people on campus "in the know", and I brought up Stan's shot and how nice it looked. I got laughed at and informed that it might look ok, but he still can't hit a jumper consistently to save his life. That was their opinion obviously, but they work out together sometimes, so I trust what they're saying.

Been hearing lots of good things about Hanner so far. On ESPN the other day Andy Katz talked about Hanner's improvement on offense. You have any intel on that?

Nope. Just what you've heard on here and from Katz. I do have a TON of hope though that bball4IU and Katz are right.

Well, if it's true, let's hope he doesn't hoist any bricks and sticks to his bread and butter. Hes got plenty of fantastic distance shooters all around. The backboard and the charity stripe should ultimately and essentially be his best friend.

Crean has done this in the past and hype up certain players in the preseason. National guys have jumped on it before as well basically rephrasing Crean to sound like their own analysis.

I hope that isn't the case with Hanner and he will start to become the player we all hoped he would be. I will say a player like Hanner having 2 full seasons and 3 summers should do the trick to see if he can flip the switch. If not, then it was never meant to be.
