Off Season Progress/Notes

Recommended Posts

Devin Davis is a total X-factor to me this year. I am not counting on him for Big contributions but I could see him being our most improved player through the off season, and having that huge off season jump. I hope he doesn't have to play the 5.

We really need his rebounding tenacity.

By following his Snapchat story, it looks like RoJo is officially in Btown as of tonight. I think we either have, or almost have the whole class on campus now.

I agree and I hope you are right.  I would love to see him turn into a David West type of player for us.  David West from the first half of the Pacers season that is.  I want him to be a tenacious rebounder and defender with a nice mid range shot to go with it.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I disagree with this; I AM counting on him for big contributions.

Yeah, I understand. He should be our 6th man. Possibly crack starting lineup, depending on Stan, Troy, and Hanners development.

If a 3 star player is contributing heavily as a Soph it is a wonderful surprise. That is more my point, but I think he has the tools to do just that.

Agree with your premise. But, the bottom line is, for this team to overachieve we're going to need Hanner and Davis to surprise/step-up.

We need Davis to be the next Oladipo. Not to that level necessarily, but you get what I mean. In terms of guys with more his style/position, we need him to be the next Draymond Green or Kenneth Faried, etc.

There are a lot of guys out there that were somewhat underanked or under-recruited because they were PF's in a SF's body, or tweeners so to speak, but became great college players because size/length isn't as important as it is in the NBA. We NEED Davis to be one of those guys.

It's almost crucial to IU being a team that overachieves and really surprises people, or the other way to IU being an 18-19 win team on the bubble or in the NIT.

Good ITH article with nice statistical and shot chart analysis about Troy Williams.

Love the shot charts.. and from UM hoops?  we need to get on these.

Troy needs to find himself in the right wing more often too apparently, really effective.

I was browsing a recruiting board and saw this update about a 2014 class Andrew Kimm committing to Indiana University.
http://www.ncsasports.org/mens-basketball-recruiting/in/highland
(it's near the middle of the page on the left)

I've searched and searched and can't find out if this is 100%.  I'm assuming this would be a walk-on player if this is true.  He also posted on his twitter about being in the IU class of 2018.

Here are the stats and video of him, the only stuff I could find..

Dang...if that's a new walk-on you found that's some serious needle in a haystack research! 6'8" 230 seems like a good practice body.

The '18 Andrew Kimm is at a different high School.

Yeah, don't know what's up with that.  Same guy though, @andrewJkimm  .

He did not have a good answer for who is going to be the glue guy or connector as they called it in the call. Since that was one of the primary problems last year per the conversation I had hoped he would have seen a someone clearly step into this role already.

Good podcast though. For those that think DD hates IU I cannot figure how they come to that when you hear him in talks like this. He regularly says guys are crazy if they don't come to IU.
