I agree many are underestimating RJ, but I don't see him fitting in the starting line up.  He will eventually be a starting guard for the Hoosiers (as a soph or junior), but not with Yogi and Blackmon available.  With that being said, I do think RJ will become one of my all time favorite Hoosiers.  He's just a great kid (from everything I've read and seen) and he's smart both on and off the court too.  Great shooter and great decision maker; everything you want in a guard.  I bet he will see significant minutes as a freshman, and he'll be one of the first off the bench, but I can't see him start over Yogi or JBJ (not that it matters whether or not he starts; either way he'll play a lot of minutes).  I hope he's here for 4 years!

I'll be watching him tonight and tomorrow night with the Derby Classic events going on.  He'll be at Floyd Central High School this evening for the Night of Future Stars.  Any of you other southern Indiana Hoosier fans should try and come out to support RJ and Max today and tomorrow!  Go IU!!!

Few teams in the Big Ten are going to have enough talent and athleticism to stop our guards/wings this season. There are going to be guys on this team who are about as dangerous from deep as they are going to the hole in Blackmon and Yogi, which is huge.

Then you've got a guy like WIlliams, who hopefully worked on his jumpshot in the offseason and can add that dimension to his ability to drive and dunk on anyone in the country, and RJ who can obviously shoot from anywhere, and hopefully brings some slashing ability.. And lets nto forget about Stan Robinson, who can do it all.

As we saw this year, guard play can win a championship.. I'm not saying that's what will happen, but damn I'm starting to get excited.

Just want to point out that Stan's long range shot is horrid. He needs to work on that more than anything else if he wants to become a bigger offensive threat, but now we also have three-point shooters to balance that.

Yeah he didn't shoot the 3 too many times. Maybe there's a reason.. But I just meant he can hit a jump shot, rebound, pass. He's versitile.

Stan's threes need work. That bank shot he made was an errant shot that went in off the bank. I'm guessing he works a bunch on that this summer. Hopefully it improves. We don't really need it so much now but it will help his game a bunch. Can you imagine trying to guard his slashing if his long range is also a weapon?

The backcourt is going to be one of the hardest to guard in the country...

The frontcourt however...... As long as Devin Davis can build on last season and be a rebounding force, and HMP can not turn the rock over every time he touches it, they should be serviceable.

I love stanford robinson's drive to the hoop, looks so smooth.  You're right though, if he can extend the defense with a better long-range shot, he'll be able to open up his own driving lanes and take 'em.

I want to know what people are basing all of these expectations for a freshman on, have they actually seen him play or are they basing it on highlights?  People thought Hanner could be a one and done based on highlights.

I'm not intentionally trying to be negative here, he's a solid get, but most freshman aren't ready to contribute from day one and shouldn't be expected to do so.  It seems people are expecting way too much based on friggin' highlights.

I don't see it. I think he might start a couple games but that's either due to injuries or motivational factors. There's noway Yogi, Blackmon, and Troy don't start. With that said, I could also see us starting Yogi, Blackmon at the 2, Stan at the 3, and Troy at the 4 against smaller teams with RJ and Davis first off the bench. That would give us 2 great shooters and 2 great slashers with Perea cleaning up the rest.. You know what, the more I think about it the more I get excited for next year.

You're right, we should ease our expectations on the freshmen. But JBJ should be an impact player from day 1. People fell in love with Hanner's pure athleticism in his vids, then realized he couldn't actually play the game. When you see Rojo's highlights, it is usually of skill play. Guys who arrive on campus with actual bball skills instead of raw athleticism will probably make an impact their first year.
