Cuonzo takes CA job, 3 big commits could leave

Absolutely agree though that ideally we wouldn't be reaching for talented bigs late in the cycle

Check out what Tennessee players had to say about Cuonzo leaving. Not too surprised, thought he was treated poorly, etc

Thanks for bringing this over. His salary was lower than their fans/alumni expectations but his players love him. The tweets are damning then take a look at the comments. While many of us think we are too hard on our head coach, I don't see any in the same level. We critique x's and o's and opinions are formed from this. I can't blame him for leaving; great opportunity after finishing strong. If you never saw him play, he was a winner that had his share of victories against us.

My concern is if Tennessee hires Crean, we could easily lose Troy, Stan, and RJ  to the Volunteers.  Kenny Johnson could very easily be leaving as well to Maryland.

Are you serious? Crean isn't walking away from his IU paycheck, and Tennessee isn't paying his buyout. Get a grip.

I'd be more concerned about Crean going to the Lakers and Yogi, Troy and Stan going pro.

Crean has a job at least for one more year with $3+ million salary and an enormous buyout. He has more resources than most other coaches in the country. He would be out of his mind to leave for Tennessee right now. If the seats gets really hot after another rough year, then maybe. But still probably not. Crean isn't leaving Indiana until he gets fired or is "forced to resign."

There will be more jobs open next year, just as there are every offseason, and if he gets fired by IU at any time there will be a new job waiting for him. He is MUCH MUCH MUCH better off staying at IU and trying to right the ship. It's in everyone's best interest to accept the fact that Tom Crean will continue to be the coach at Indiana for at least another 11 months.

Keep it from getting out of hand. He was just stating something, no need to go after people. Thanks!

Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanESPN 5m

Tennessee has Minnesota coach Richard Pitino on its short list of top candidates, multiple sources told ESPN.

I knew that when Pitino had some success at Minnesota, other schools would come calling. Did NOT think that the first team to come calling would be Tennessee. That would be a big blow for UM, considering he's been there one year and is just starting to build a roster of his own players. NIT Title was big for him and the program, losing him would be tough.

Wonder if there is any interest the other way? I also wonder if Tennessee is more interested in the name? He's had some success at his 2 coaching stops, but with just 1 year at each it's not a very big sample size. Not to mention that Tennessee is not a marquee job either, so as soon as he wins there he could bolt up the ladder another step.

Last thought... is Tennessee an upgrade? Worse conference = better chance to compete?
