LamarCheeks Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Final four of Yankees, Guardians, Mets and Dodgers. Meh. As long as the Yankees win the AL, MLB won't care who comes out of the NL. Yankees vs. Mets -- win-win Yankees vs. Dodgers -- win-win Guardians vs. either -- not so much (though the No. 1 or 2 market will still be participating, so maybe a win-tie? LOL) Quote

And I say again, if they let Soto walk Cashman and Steinbrenner will never be able to show their faces in NY ever again. He was only real addition to the lineup; for much if the year it was him and Judge and a bunch other guys. Need Judge to wake up at the plate. Need to do something about first and third this off-season, Torres could leave and Chisholm is naturally a second anyway. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Wow. Rickey Henderson died. A phenomenal ballplayer -- also had the unique distinction of throwing left-handed and batting right-handed. RIP LIHoosier 1 Quote
LIHoosier Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Holy Crap! Rickey's gonna be devastated when Rickey finds out about this. I was a kid when he played for the Yankees, he was my 2nd favorite player ever (behind Donnie Baseball). I tried to catch pop ups like he did with his glove smacking his leg after catching it, usually to no avail. Until COVID, the Old Timers played on Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium and Rickey was still playing as if he was auditioning to get on an MLB team one last time. Man, this sucks. LamarCheeks Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 How can you be Mr. Baseball and have a career batting average of .200 over 297 games? Well -- Bob Uecker was. Not sure anybody was a better jokester/storyteller. RIP. And because you sorta have to ... "Juuuuuuuust a bit outside." ALASKA HOOSIER, AZ Hoosier, johnsoniu and 3 others 3 3 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 So, this just happened in Houston -- Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. Luis Arraez of the Padres was knocked cold. Was carted off the field after about a 15-minute delay. Obviously, there was no ill intent -- but what an incredibly stupid play by the Houston kid. If you're a second baseman covering first, you gotta figure out some way to stop -- maybe you slide into the bag. But you can't run through it like that. Good grief. The announcers were trying to cut him a break, saying it wasn't his fault and it wasn't avoidable. It was totally his fault and was completely avoidable. https://x.com/TalkinBaseball_/status/1914097293143195835 Quote
