Is Coach Crean feeling the heat?

Recommended Posts

I read everything, everyday IUBB, and get the feeling that CTC is in defense mode with his tweets, and overall deflective behavior, when it comes down to answering important questions regarding the future of IUBB. Does anybody have a thought on his recent tweeting and avoidance to answering ANY question that has to do with his coaching or the program as a whole under his leadership? I'm not looking for Crean bashing, just an overall feel of what everyone thinks on here.

All 3 very valid points, and I would agree with.  I think at Indiana you always feel pressure.  I doubt there is truly ever a time you feel complacent.  I think even more so after watching the University fire a top 3 of all time coaches.  Hell, even UConn let Calhoun retire.  They gave him that option.  Knight didn't get that.  Different times for sure, but comfort probably won't happen here.

I just feel like he continues to deflect without taking ownership of his faults... We have all pulled our hair out watching his sub patterns and refusel to use timeouts. I just wish he would be more transparent, and not sooo defensive when addressing the issues at hand. I feel that CTC would be better served facing things head on and admitting mistakes, without minamalizing his role in the the problem. We weren't a young team any longer in March, yet the same things continue to haunt.

The thing that bugs me is the post game pressers he talks as if he was watching the game and not coaching. He never owns up to anything and throws the players under the bus.

I have the inside track on Mr. Knights fireing... Myles Brand looked to make a name for himself with that fireing and and went on to chair the NCAA. His tough no matter what attitude sent Bobby on his way. Doesnt matter that he coached a clean program and got it done with hard working players that weren't 5 "star" players. Look at 2002 and that final four team Bobby recruited. Hard nosed players that loved basketball. That is what I.U. is missing... quit looking for the one and dones and recruit those that love the game knowing they probably wont get drafted, but wake up everyday knowing the are putting on that INDIANA jersey and representing HOOSIERNATION!!!

Sorry, that's common knowledge, nothing inside there. Not being a tool, but...

Brand also told the players at a football game he wouldn't make a decision until he had all the information, at least 72 hours.  He fired Knight the next day.

I think that Crean is realizing what he got into, and is backpeddling now that his coaching is being questioned. I dont think he realized the micrscope he would be under taking this job. Being the head coach at INDIANA is a MISSION FROM GOD that must be executed by the coach!! Can he own up to that? I wonder and hope to find out next season.

Why would you think I had no "knowledge" of the situation. Anyone who followed the program knew of the tension between Coach and Brand. My family has been involved w IU basketball since early '70s. I was there, as were many members here.

Crean has one chance left. Vonley is leaving so its not a very good one. Hopefully the iu admin finally makes the right hire so we can get back on track. I can't take much more from card and cat fans.

I hope he is feeling some heat, he deserves to do so! No matter where the rumor started, when a New York City newspaper starts printing that if the Knicks coach gets fired, he will coach IU, and that coach is Mike Woodson, CTC should be a bit shaken! I really don't care how true or untrue such things are, it has to eat at him a bit, especially given Woody's IU ties! That would be like showing up at your office to see a stranger trying out your chair, just in case you get the axe, you might think he knows something you don't!

I am sure CTC is a wonderful guy, I think he runs a clean program, and his players get good grades, all marvelous attributes, but it's Indiana, they are supposed to do all that and COMPETE!

"Steve, God is not going to provide any leadership on this team. He couldn't care less if we win or not. He is not going to parachute in through the roof of this building and score when we need points....let me ask you this. Do you really think that God is going to help a team that I'm coaching?"

"The Methodists control God and they're not going to let us use him."

--Some IU coach not on a mission from God.
