Good bye Noah V.

Recommended Posts

I wish nothing but the best for Noah, once a Hoosier always a Hoosier. I will buy tickets to watch him play at the next level. Next level it is and a childhood dream come true for him.

Good player, good luck. We should have known it was going to happen. It's not the coaches that are to blame for these one and dones. It's the NBA. In my opinion, if the NBA isn't going to make a higher age requirement than what they have, just get rid of the one and done philosophy and lower the age limit once again. That way, kids who actually want to build their game and their education will have the scholarship to do so. One and done rule is ridiculous. End rant.

I thought he'd stay, but I still knew what was best for him, which is going pro. Make the money while it's there. There's no reason to pass up the opportunity of a lifetime. All of us know that we would have done the exact same thing. In this world, money is HUGE in the daily lives of EVERYONE. Glad he was a Hoosier for a year. I wish him the best of luck at the next level.

I wonder if Crean asked Noah to get this out there the night before Clark's decision to make a late push. Or I'm just reading into it.

I'd say if coach knew for sure that Noah was leaving it's possible that he asked Noah to make it public so that he didn't have to tip toe around it with recruits. Now he can say Noah won't be here, we need you.

One thing we'll have to get used to if we're going to get top recruits!

Unless the NBA changes the one and done rule.

I would judge Hanner's play as adequate, not great.

Judging Hanner's play as adequate would be generous, IMO. Personally, I would have liked to see Noah and Hanner together. Our version of twin towers.
Oh well, back to Noah. Last year when he was deciding, some fans were turned off by Noah's possible early departure. I was really hoping he would come irregardless of how long he stayed. He was and is a special talent and it was a pleasure to watch him this season. Best of luck to you, Noah. Make us proud.

Great player, great effort. It's impossible to blame him for making the right decision and going pro. As much as Hoosiers might have wanted it, it won't matter. The interesting thing to watch is to see how IU fans treat Noah in the pros. He's Indiana's first 1 and Done from another state I believe. This didn't give Hoosiers much or a chance to get to know Noah like we did Victor etc. Regardless, best or luck at the next level, the quicker you perform, the better off Coach Crean and our recruiting will be.

I just was just texting my friend about this. I miss Zeller mostly due to his humble ego and personality. He had that laid back attitude, but with a little wryness underneath. I don't feel like I know Vonleh at all. I will miss him, and support him in the pros (although I'm not a huge NBA fan), but I don't have that gut punched feeling like I did with Victor.

I want to wish Noah the best of luck too and hopefully the he can hang with the grown men as Sir Charles mentioned. But even though he doesn't turn 19 until August, I thought he was a grown man among young'uns anyway. He will make his multi million dollars but like someone mentioned, will be follow him in the NBA like we do Cody and Vic. I do not know. My favorite player went back to Wisconsin.

Nice kid, but sorry;

Not a big fan of kids who pass through Indiana University with little intention of ever obtaining a college degree.
Not Noah's fault - the system is severely messed up. Give me a team of Watfords, Hulls, and DJ Whites any day.[/quote]
If I could like this 100 times, I would

I think its safe to say that the Noah Vonleh project was a failure. I never really saw progress in him throughout the season. I read somewhere that a NBA GM said that he may need a whole year in the NBDL before he is ready for the pro's. That means that Noah saw no way he was going to improve at IU, so might as well go get paid to play and improve his game while he is at it.

I remember the night he committed. I was at Dunkirk and I yelled out "Vonleh committed!", the whole bar erupted.

Best of luck to him in the NBA, I think he can be a star up there.

I think you are looking too deep. If the NBA tells you to go pro, you go pro. It's that simple. The NBA didn't tell Cody to go pro after his freshman year, after his sophomore year they did and he left

I don't think we will see any players at IU that go pro before they should.

Noah was one of the few bright spots on this year's team and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him play. He is not playing basketball for free anymore and who can blame him with that talent level?

He is becoming a professional in his chosen field, which is the goal of most college students I would say.

Sucks for the basketball team that we root for but Noah is making the best decision for him.

I don't fault him for going pro. I am always happy for someone who moves on to something bigger and better in life. But, his only fault, from what I have read from scouts and such, is that he just isn't quite NBA ready. Multiple people have said that he needs to develop a swagger on the court to really reach his ceiling. I am not sure that being a 19 year old, developing PF in the NBA is the best way to do that. I hope he succeeds, and I believe he eventually will, but I think it is going to take a little bit longer than expected
