Smith is Thon and Matur's legal guardian, which happened after their parents signed them over on a contract that (from what I have gathered) the parents couldn't even understand, except that it meant their boys could get out of Sudan and go to school (which didn't even happen for a couple years). I really don't know Hanner and Peter's situation, so it could be the same, but yeah.

There was an article about Thon the other day with the expected comments about how UK already has a blank check and a car with his name on it and stuff. I couldn't resist reading further and came across a UK fan saying that he should go there because Calipari develops players as well as anyone in the country, just look at how many freshmen he takes every year and turns them into NBA draft picks. 

 

 

Sometimes I think UK fans were put on this Earth to remind us that no matter how dumb we may feel sometimes, there are always many, many people with a fraction of the brain cells.

Here we have another big guy that could fill our needs around the shooters and wings we have today and a few more next year.  Whoever that big man is that will fill that void will, as I mentioned on the note about Stephen Zimmerman a few minutes ago, go down in the memoirs of IU basketball. 

 

It seems to me that the first big that signs on will be that guy that will propel us to banners on the wall, will get a great education, will get great physical and talent development, and a good go in the NBA.

 

Will that first guy be Maker, Zimmerman, or Bryant?  Anyone would be great.  It will be a WIN-WIN situation for any of them.

 

Who will it be?  Only one of them can be first and win the "RING"!

  NBA Top 100 Camp- (June 18-21, 2014) Maker continued to show why he is one of the top players in his class. He can score inside and on the perimeter and continues to become more comfortable with the ball in his hands. He is also a talented shot blocker who runs the floor well and plays hard on both ends.

  Adidas Gauntlet Orlando- (May 24, 2014) After watching the other premier bigs on the circuit in his class, Maker was on display this weekend for Team Loaded as the featured player on his team. He ran the floor extremely well, was very vocal,and played with high motor and made open shots. You can tell he has put on a little weight due to he was mixing it up a little with other bigs on the low block. As his basketball IQ continues to grow, look for Make to take his game to the next level.

  Sean Couch Showcase - (Oct 23-24, 2014) Thon has all of the makings of a future pro. He passes the eye test, standing at a legit 7'0" with a muscular frame. He is a versatile big man with skills that transcend his age. He is also skilled post player with good footwork.

  Super 60 Super Showcase - (May 25, 2012) Maker is a super long 6-foot-11 inch PF who has the skills of a guard at times. He blocks everything at the rim. He has great ball handling skills for a player his size. The one thing that really caught our eye was his stroke from the 3-point line. It is easy to see how Maker might be the best in the 2016 class.
