HoosierLarry Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Hi everyone! I'm a high school senior and I'll be studying at IU next year in the Kelley school of business. I'm a huge football fan and grew up cheering for Notre Dame, but I plan on supporting the Hoosiers from now on! I know next to nothing about the program other than Coach Wilson is doing big things and it seems that we are steadily improving. I am hopeful that I can be a manager or somehow involved in the program, maybe working with the SID. Eventually I want to be a graduate assistant and I really think that Coach Wilson would be a great person to learn under. I'm hoping you guys can catch me up on the program- offensive/defensive breakdown in terms of scheme and personnel, recruiting history, AD/coach relations, etc... Any help would be much appreciated. I'll be on this board a lot I'm sure. Go Hoosiers! IU Hoosier41 1 Quote
HoosierLarry Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 After reading around the board a bit I can see CKW is not as well liked as I had figured... Definitely sounds like Mallory needs to go... Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app It was close during the Willingham years... From heartbrache in the sense of 3-9 to getting embarrassed during the NC I've had my fair share. I'll definitely be sticking with IU through it all though. Quote

Most people think CKW is pointing things in the right direction and perfectly fine with giving him a couple more years. However, the failure to pull the plug on Mallory is wearing peoples patience thin, presently company included. Quote

I think if Mallory is brought back then Wilson should be on a short leash, and let's face it Mallory is unfortunately coming back if he's out recruiting. What makes it worse is that now he can say there was improvement as long as we don't have the worst defense in conference history, and in year 4 that shouldn't be where the bar is set. Quote

Absolutely agree JS. Which is why I find it so maddening that CKW has choosen to stake his future on a proven bad coordinator. I don't know if its his ego that refuses to admit it was a crappy hire or some sense of loyalty he learned from Stoops, who is fiercely loyal to his assitants. Of course, Stoops never had a DC that thought a twist was a type of ice cream cone. Quote

Maybe he's just too offense oriented, and the way he always blames the offense when the defense lays another rotten egg it wouldn't surprise me one bit. Quote

HoosierLarry Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 I'm really looking forward to being a Hoosier... This board is great... What type of scheme does Mallory run? Are there any strong points on the defense? For example in the preseason Notre Dame last year thought the defensive line would be a strength while the linebackers would be a deficiency. How does the defense for IU look? I know Wilson is also a great offensive mind and his teams score tons of points... is that through an Oregon-esque offense of just a fast pace? I know IU had 3 QBs this year, what does next years QB competition look like? Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Let me say welcome to the board and don't be afraid to get involved in the conversation. HoosierLarry 1 Quote

Allow wide open passes and running lanes you could drive a truck through, and pray the offensive player drops the pass or trips over his own feet. EDIT: Oh, I know what you're thinking right now. "That bad?". No, it's worse. He's an incompetent fool that could manage to turn a semi competent offense into an unstoppable force. If he's not fired someone else should be for possessing a level of stupid human kind has never seen before. Quote
