(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

We've had Sheehey and Oladipo. Williams didn't get any better. Hollowell got worse. Remy didn't get any better. Hell a lot have just left recently.

Remy got much better and turned into a solid player who ironically knew his role for us at the time during the season. Williams developed very much, maybe not his decision making but his game in general got much better. OG turned from a 200+ recruit to a projected first round pick in one season. And you already mentioned Sheehey and Oladipo's growth. Also, I wouldn't mind if Crean mentioned a thing or two about D-Wade when pitching to an athletic wing.

So we should just go after wings outside the Top 125. Because the Top 50 ones have been flops outside Watford. Both Williams (Nick and Troy) and Hollowell. Stan Robinson may have been the worst one.

I never said we should go after lower rated wings. What I'm trying to say is, the growth is shown better and it's more obvious in the lower rated wings. You can see the development and the rise, better in the lower rated recruits because they had a larger growth than the higher rated ones. Hollowell and Stan were flops, but not ever wing can turn into a beast. There are going to be guys with a bad mindset and attitude who turn into flops.

I'd honestly say we have better luck with the lower rate wings.

Your last sentence is all the difference. The day we get a top 50 wing with the mindset of a 150+ wing then we'll be onto something. Watford grew tremendously and I think we could have seen more if he were on later teams. If Wilkes ends up at IU it opens up possibilities for both Wilkes and IU.

Could it be that he received old info on Wilkes and he's sticking to it? Maybe what was said before has changed but Meyer hasn't been privy to that info? Just a thought, recruiting is crazy fluid and seems to change all the time.

Has anyone heard if he's a fall or spring commit?
