(2016) SG Eron Gordon to Seton Hall

Recommended Posts

@JeffRabjohns: 53-point turnaround: After losing 1st game by 39, Indiana Juniors win by 14. Complete stats: http://t.co/VvSxeVUfmc

Eron Gordon had himself a game!!!

Led team in scoring in a winning effort.

Not so fast. No doubt Eron is talented, but that "had himself a game" effort included 6 turnovers and 0 assists.

I think he'd be an excellent get for IU in a '16 class of five or six incoming freshmen, but he will be a project before he ever gets real minutes at the B1G level.

Well now that we have Harrison Niego, along with Robert Johnson and JBJ, we are pretty set on PGs for the next 2+ years. Why would we be up on Erons list? We don't need him taking up a scholarship.

Tom Crean is so fond of guards, and I bet high school guards are fond of him, because of his style of using guards a lot. He could probably pick up a better guard than eron.

  1. Because Harrison Niego is a walk-on who (while it's not impossible) is HIGHLY unlikely to ever be a starting D1 point guard, JB is an undersized two guard who wants to go pro, and Rojo is a combo guard who will start every year he's at IU, but probably never as the primary ballhandler.
  2. Because Eron Gordon will likely also never be a primary ballhandler for a D1 team.
  3. Because we lose Yogi, NickZ, and maybe JB after this year, and then will be left with only one guard who has played college ball.

In other words...we need guards of all shapes and sizes for the 2016 class.

Eron Gordon's newest scholarship offer, from LSU, might seem a bit random considering the timing – entering his senior year – and the distance from home.

But there is a tie to Louisiana with Gordon's oldest brother, Eric, playing for the New Orleans Pelicans. LSU will be in to see Gordon, a 6-3 Cathedral guard, on Friday at the Adidas Invitational at North Central.

"(LSU) is one of the top contenders now," said Gordon, who also listed IndianaButlerand Arizona State. "I talked with the coach (Johnny Jones) and he thought I was committed to Indiana. That happens a lot."

Of course, there's a connection at Indiana, where both of Eron's brothers – Eric and Evan – played in college. But there's no guarantee that Eron ends up in Bloomington, which he has said throughout his recruitment. He said he's plans to visit LSU, potentially as one of his official visits.

"That's definitely one of the spots I might take an official," he said.

Gordon's team, the Eric Gordon Central Stars, fell to a loaded UPlay Canada team 68-54 on its first pool play game on Wednesday, the first day of the July evaluation period. Butler assistant Michael Lewis was among the coaches sitting courtside. Gordon, ranked No. 81 in the 2016 class by Rivals, finished with a team-high 17 points.

LSU is bringing in a strong 2015 recruiting class, which appeals to Gordon.

"That's somewhere I could definitely see myself going," he said. "It's definitely a place with a lot of potential and is growing as a basketball program. That's one thing we've talked about is growing with the program. They've actually had a lot of great players go through there but it's been a while since they've been (strong)."

He would probably be my third choice after Rawle and either Stevens or Bruce Brown. Although I don't know enough about everyone outside of Rawle to say that.
