I am a bit of a pessimist by nature, but I think Edessa's leaving may be a big deal for IU.  Z may or may not ever be healthy, and we have noq lost all 3 bigs who played this year.  I love Maya, but center is just not her position.
Somebody please explain to me why I'm wrong.  I would love to be !

ps.  this transfer stuff is getting very old

Unless we're absolutely certain - as near as one can be with the portal - that we have a true presence in the paint coming via the portal, I agree losing Noyan is not good news.  I don't think we can at all feel comfortable that Z can give us a full season with her foot injuries this past season.

Have to think staff is actively pursuing at least 1 if not 2 bigs.

I count Noyan as a core player, and she was improving, so if her entering the portal means she is for sure leaving (as opposed to testing the portal waters), yeah that sucks -- but there are certainly a number of comparable or better players in the portal, so if she is in fact gone hope to see the replacement and another big signing in the near future.

This is truly insane. Noyan and now Caffey. There must be some fundamental institutional or money issue--like they all think they are being underpaid, or they really dislike the coaching staff. Caffey leaving is just the bottom falling out.

All bets off testing waters or not a repeat of last year…..(testing waters is not a good look and things evidently are struggling whether NIL or whatever….though could be open for forgiveness). The record shows once the name is in the portal…does IU get a chance to match.

Didn’t Noyan and Caffey enjoy the fall football season???

I recall seeing/hearing Caffey talk after the season, and she seemed to sound as if she was all in for next year.

Transfer Portal:  All players should be forced into transfer portal and schools should line up players and take turns picking players until each school has a team.

Except UCONN would not go for that.

The main iuwbb person on peegs said they heard Caffey asked for north of 500K. When she was already getting a raise of 150k ish. Said a lot of ncaaw players will be asking for more because of the new wnba deal. this is me paraphrasing. 
 

she was someone who did 0 personal nil deals while Spreen made over 100k doing them.

It’s all about the money.  Can’t blame them one bit.  Isn’t that what you go to college for…to make a good/best living possible?  
 But remember the love is fake.  

The testing waters…then you have a school bidding on a player purposely driving a price up with maybe lack of intention to buy that to make the player’s original school to bid higher to keep her….to drain that school’s resources to affect a decision on buying another player.

 It would be great if all of it would just get shut down. Just get nothing or do away with the sport.  Or just buy a team from China or somewhere.  No fun anymore.   And IU football won a National Championship and now the sky is falling.
