Yes I don't think this can be understated. I think we need to add 5 guys for next year's team, which means 2 have to transfer. Harris and Andrej are by far more interesting to me than Ristic and Drake. I'd like to see us add 2 bigs and 3 guards.

Say we keep four current players + the three freshmen. That's maybe $2.5 million for seven players at $350k per on average.

That leaves approximately $10 million for six players. Bring in four of them at an average of $750k each, and that'd leave seven million for two players; a $4m and a $3m.

That's a ton of budget if we can get the lower priced ones in the fold.

Correct but that still seems to get lost on a few people.

When you're literally "buying" every piece from the portal like last year, you hit your budget rather quickly.

Is this factoring in the rumored 2.5M bump? Just thinking for a more conservative estimate, if the total budget is 10M and 2.5M goes to returning players + freshmen, then it's 7.5M for 6 players. That's considerably trickier IMO

And this time we should have over half of the roster budgeted for before we go portalling.

I'm guessing Sisley, Drake, Miles, Dorn, and Acimovich. Drake looks very connected mentally and Acimovich joined the team with a redshirt year expected. Add in the three freshmen and we only need four or five portal additions.

1. I think it's very likely that more than three or four players return. We currently have seven low priced players that can return. Five seems about right.
2. Even if we needed to pick up six, I'd expect at least two of them to be very low-priced options. So your $7.5 M for six players would turn into $6.5M total for the top three signees. Something like $3.5M, $2M, $1.0M for our top three.

From the portal IU needs at minimum three high end starters, one preferably an all-conference caliber player, a backup big, and a 4 man that can start/play heavy rotation minutes depending on Sisley's development. That should be a non-starter. Potentially add a 6th player (backup PG) depending on how the staff views Drake.

Who do you have starting at C next year in this scenario?

IMO we need a starting front court and back court + backup PG.

Return Sisley, Harris, Andrej and + two starter quality bigs and the front court should be fine. 

We have plenty of guys who can play the 2/3. Not a ton of guys who can run point. Pay big for the starting PG and C. Pay the starting CG 1-1.5M. Try and find a good value 4 to compete with Sisley and a competent back up PG

We need a really good center and two elite guards. Lock those positions down early and you can add to fit from there.

Personally, if the fan base/admin has the stomach for it, I’d prefer long term sustained success over flash in the pan. I can’t handle another senior transfer heavy team year after year. 

They should definitely be compiling a list of targets right now -- guys that are likely to hit the portal and guys that might be "enticed" to hit the portal.  :)

As talented as Anthony seems to be and his potential i wouldn’t want that circus pressure that exists with family.

I’m expecting a lot more turnover with this roster than most. We were late in the game last year and this group was kinda thrown together. Wouldn’t even be surprised if Sisley leaves. I expect continuity to begin  after next year not with this group. Dolson has basically eluded to this in recent comments saying this group was put together just to get through the season.
