Staff is seeing him today.

Such a curious deal, in a good way for IU. 5 weeks from announcement and has taken 1 visit, postponed and not rescheduled a 2nd, and hasn’t scheduled any others.
Or am I forgetting about 1?

I think you nailed it.  OV to us in mid-June and postponed Kansas 2 weeks ago.

Taylor, Almond, Anthony Thompson would be a heckuva haul.

Yup. The 3 of those kids and Moody would be a top 5ish class nationally and almost certainly #1 in the B1G. You can make the argument that in the current climate a 4-man freshman class would be too big, but from a purely talent perspective that would be the best IU class in a good long while. And, personally, I’ll take talent over experience.

Always, or just in general?  I used to agree.....but I'm starting to think 22-23yr old 3*'s are better than 18-19yr old 4*'s.

I still think your roster foundation still needs to be from high school recruiting with most ranked between 25-70. Those type of recruits will probably be in your program for multiple years.

This is the big question.  Attitude and personality carry and big factor too.

Fitting in like Queen last year, or McNeely last year can work.

Counting on 3 or 4 freshman to start and win in the B1G isn’t likely to work.

DeVries has some huge decisions ahead of him

I get the argument both ways. As long as a coach is consistently adherent to their plan for roster building I’m down any way they want to go. But for me I think if I’m comfortable with the kid’s work ethic and approach I’m gonna err on the side of talent every time. That means I’m gonna miss on a Walter Clayton sometimes, but if you give me a shot at a Walter Clayton or a Darryn Peterson every year I’m gonna take Peterson every time and I’m pretty confident you’d win more often than not in that deal.

Closing in on decision time. IU is out front but we'll see how things shape up. There's real speculation if IU can get both Allmond and Thompson but IU wants both.

His birthday’s 10/13. He said some time ago that was going to be the day. We shall see.

He said it might be that day. He's never said it will be then definitively. I don't want people to think that's a for sure date.

Allmond and his Petersburg HS team participating in Border League in Las Vegas.  Arafan Diane's Iowa United Prep also participating; however, their teams will not face each other.  In tonight's game, of his team's first 12 points, Allmond scored 9 and assisted on the 3-point score.

That kid has had a giant last 4-5 months. He’s been good everywhere. With Allmond and Diane both there it’s tough to imagine someone, presumably Kenny at minimum, won’t be there tomorrow.

Trevor Andershock:  Final at The Border League: The Burg 62, Wasatch Academy 61. Latrell Allmond makes two free throws with five seconds left. I had Allmond with 28 points and 20 rebounds in the game.  Wasatch featured UConn commit Junior County.

Someone mentioned attitude and basically the lockeroom. This is the only concern I have with Thompson. He's been a little sketchy since the growth spurt. His body language last summer with teammates on the aau circuit sucked. I've not seen him in a year so that could've been a bad run. It was at multiple events though.

Watched some Diane video. He's a baller. Communicate super well on defense and passes really well. Good feet and a physics specimen.  I think him and Almond with three shooters would be lethal from day one. I like Taylor too though.
