WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 14 Posted December 14 Well said. My points and thoughts are just different. DeVries came to Indiana because we have top 10 resources, then built the team the way you build a team at Iowa or whatever. It doesn’t mean we can’t win. Maybe we will. But he could have built this team at West Virginia.HOWEVER, Drew Adams, Clark, Kenny Johnson and the start to 2026 targets indicate he’s going to try to get high level Freshman which those schools don’t usually get. This season is the Cignetti approach which I’m fine with, I just think it’s an odd decision with top 10 resources. It doesn’t really match. Also taking 10 from the TP, I’m certain, complicates things. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile appMay 6th. Cignetti approach is tough. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Stuhoo Posted December 14 Posted December 14 “it pains me to admit that i was right” is an odd narrative. Especially one third of the way through a long season. Shooter, Home Jersey, HoosierHoopster and 1 other 2 2 Quote
connchr71 Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I don't get into all this minute to minute stuff with IU basketball like some do. As I was hearing about the guys coming in,I was wondering WHEN are the ones coming that can possibly make a difference. THEY NEVER CAME!!!! It was only maybe Devries and that is real iffy now after watching him enough. It seems to be a lot of wishful thinking that no matter who comes in...it's gpnna get better. This roster is a good MAC conference roster. I have watched plenty of Ball State and Miami(Ohio) games in the last couple of years and it looks very similar. Ball State's center from 2 years ago (when Sparks was at IU -can't think of the name) would run circles around Bailey. Enright is way over his head (damn, he came from Depaul). It just makes you really wonder, because we have been through this crap so many times before. Anybody who thinks this team is making the tournament is sadly mistaken! \ Quote

Lacks depth, lacks athleticism, lacks size. They are scrappy. I like coach and his style of play, but he needs an injection of roster improvement in the offseason. He's a high major player Quote

IU1972 Posted December 20 Posted December 20 This may be somewhat of a rhetorical question, but why is it that IU basketball isn't capable of being a perennial top 10 program a post-HoF/top achieving coach as other programs manage to be (i.e. Duke, AZ, Michigan, Purdue etc)? Quote

Could it be because we just had 2 terrible coaches in a row spanning 8 years?? DeVries tenure has just begun. He’s an excellent basketball mind. Why is it we can’t wait longer than 1/3 into his first season before asking sweeping rhetorical questions? Scotty R, BannerVille, cybergates and 4 others 6 1 Quote
