New Basketball Staff Thread

We wouldn't hire N'Dye(sp) to get Thiam?

Now that we have a staff, can we start the portal. Everyone that is a proven productive high-major player, decommit and let's start over. Let's start with Rod getting Gillespie, Kenny get Rice and since DD has no issues with tomfoolery hire Thiams mentor and get us a 5. Then we can go down Timberlake, Pagues, Maddox, Lanier street and hope one translates. That's roughly the average, 1/4 of hyped lower d1 players can make the jump.

Smh

Nah, we’re gonna go with what we’ve got and we’ll see how that goes for us. But if it’s any consolation, we did sign Chaz Lanier, but he’s enrolled under the name “Lamar Wilkerson.”

Is somebody going to have to bully them into posting the schedule? No way we only have 2 games scheduled for next season.

That's always been a slow burn, esp. since the B1G waits till football season to release the conference schedule. On D1 docket, Purdon't is the only school that has released their full non-con save for a tournament that hasn't released their teams/schedule yet. I'm surprised that IU has released the non-con before August the last couple years.

So intense, engaged, and detailed… I know it’s a hype clip but I’m impressed with Coach Norty.

This staff really seems like night and day from the last one and that really should make a difference…

Also found the video interesting in that new Director of Basketball Operations Garrett Sturtz, at the ripe age of 25, was in the mix.

Sturtz is a former walk-on at Drake who became their all-time rebounding leader as a 6'3" guard. Seems like a young coach on the rise for sure.

Also notable: Tucker and Enright dressed but not on video during the full contact stuff.

Two guys that were D1 Associate Head Coaches last year as non-assistant staffers?

That's some good stuff.

You mean the beloved Hoosier who always floated around the second row on NBA teams, and concerns about the work ethic took him out of the running for a job they can barely get anyone to take at his Home Town didn't float your boat?

You can see why players like him and why is a lead recruiter.  I’d guess he’s an off the court mentor as well for these guys.

These were both really neat to see. One of the things I heard often about NBA guys coming back down to college is just not realizing that you have to be hands on and teach -- these kids are malleable and still developing and you see this coaching staff so engaged and *teaching*.
