2025 NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament Discussion

Recommended Posts

The confident and easy FT shooting demonstrated last night, on the most basic level, we need players that can at least take advantage of the easiest points in basketball.  Guards like Leal, Galloway, Enright are not the move towards winning at the top level.  This should be clearly obvious yet we’ve not fixed our problems on the most basic, predictable, projectable stat in basketball.

Also 3 point shooting is reasonably projectable.  For the love of all things, do the simple things.

The end of the Duke game was illustrative of that. Arizona wasn’t intentionally fouling but they were going so aggressive that they fouled about every possession to end the game. Didn’t matter to Duke because they hit about 9/10 FT’s at the end and Arizona never got close despite hitting a couple 3’s.

When did anyone say he wasn't a good coach?

I've said he's good but not great. Overrated. 53% in P5 conferences.

It would take more than this tournament to change my mind. It looks like it could be a relatively easy path to the E8. UNC in the first round. Iowa St is a good win. MSU isn't very good of a 2 seed and is very beatable (they lost at home to Woodson ffs). Then they'll probably play an SEC team in the E8 if they get there so that familiarity could go either way.

So basically 2 or 3 National Championships in a row......

Quite a few people said he wasn't that good in the coaching search thread....you can look them up if you have the time!

He  is a good coach but not as great as some have made him out to be.

So does Chris Beard have to make the final 4 this season before the Beard haters on this forum will admit he is a helluva coach? :-)

I might have missed it but don’t recall anyone saying he is a bad coach…

EDIT: I retract that statement as I do recall a few saying his record etc wasn’t that special.

I can’t stand Izzo’s constant whining but man I would like to see a Big Ten team finally win the natty. I’d be ok with MSU or UM (although that would be a Royal kick in the nuts) winning it all for the Big Ten. Unfortunately  I think MSU, even though they had a nice comeback, loses by 8-12.

That being said…….I will never pull for PU to win the natty. Never. Ever.

What?

He is a good coach but not a great one but the reason most don't him coaching IU is because he is a bad person

I think he is a helluva a coach (great coach)....in fact I'd say he is top 10, maybe top 5 in all college basketball, but I get why we didn't go after him...,.when you have screwed up the selection process as much as IU has, you can't risk it.
