Not the season ol’ Ruger expected when they signed those big recruits. I still can’t believe that game Bailey had against us.

Yeah, the best Pikiell teams are those deep,  grind you down with defense and physicality and score just enough teams and this one was the literal opposite. And I may be alone here, but Harper gives me that whole Hardenesque he’s-great-but-you’re-never-actually-winning-anything-with-him vibe

Yes

He has plenty of leash left at Rutgers. They were the worst power program in the country when he took over. They have 8 total ncaa tournament appearances and hadn’t made it since 1981. He’s made it twice since 2021. They hadn’t even made the NIT since 2006. In their first two seasons in the big ten (2015, 2016) and prior to Pikiell, they won 3 games combined. 8-46 in conference the 3 years before him. He’s got some more leash there.

Some leash… IMO, next year is make or break for him at RU.

But that's in your opinion, what counts is the opinion of the Rutgers administration.

Sorry I thought this was a message board for sharing opinions and I live in New Jersey so happen to have a local perspective… Didn’t realize you’re in their AD

I do know that Pike has a fairly large buyout through the next few seasons. I know that he is very supported within the university administration. I know the university is much more focused on replacing their athletic director, since their current AD is interim, and their university president as well as capital projects. I know that I don't need to currently live in NJ to understand all of that.

There's an implied "In my opinion" attachment to posts on message boards unless there is something in the post saying otherwise. Boards are easier to read if you keep that in mind. In my opinion.

I agree. I also said IMO, lol. I probably should have built on that thought a little more. Didn’t think I had to after he went 15-17 in a year with two top 10 draft picks on the roster. He gave them virtually no supporting cast. He is very well respected, but people - including some very wealthy donors - are frustrated by this season big time and feel the program has plateaued. Grateful for his turning the program similar to many of our fans with Crean but ready to move on. PintheV is correct though, kinda big buyout next few years. When he inevitably fails in the portal and they’re putrid next year, I expect the money will be there to move on. New AD will get good timing for a clean break and bring his own guy in. IMO IMO IMO
