Mark Turgeon - A Coaching Candidate? Or Not

Recommended Posts

We could debate about what is "worse," but Turgeon's 17-14 season with 9-11 in conference, and the 19-13 season with 8-10 in conference aren't great, and right in line with Woody's worst year at IU, last year.

But others are correct; this thread is to debate IU coaching candidates, and Mark Turgeon is not an IU coaching candidate.

Nah, not really up for debate. His worst Pom year other than year 1 at MD was 52. MW  was 91 last year. Not even close. W-L record is much less predictive of coaching performance than analytics rating.

Cult like followings on BTB:

Stevens
McCollum
Turgeon

Personally don’t see how IU can go wrong with any of these three elite D1 coaches.

Is a cult of one possible? Turgeon train consists of only @TheDMV as far as I can tell.

Yes, W-L record is such an arbitrary metric to judge coaches on. Everyone knows the name of the game is efficiency. Lol

The dif is it’s not a “theory”

Why would you want to put your friend or client in a situation where they are clearly not wanted? If you think we're bad wait till you get the whole fanbase running him out of town.

Pretty weird how when someone says they have info Stevens with the Cs isn’t a candidate, everyone yells at them and defends this as an open forum to discuss candidates and believe whatever they want.

The game is winning and losing. But if we’re trying to predict future success, predictive analytics are unquestionably better.

Sorry bro, Mark isn’t as popular as Brad. You can’t sit at our table anymore.
