Looks like Flores gave Mendoza permission to wear his #15 although others have worn it, but Mendoza asked if he could wear it.

“He’s perfect,” Flores said of Mendoza. “He can make every throw. He can make the plays. What can’t he do? He does it all. He’s fun to watch. . . . Plus, he’s a good-looking kid. Like me.”

This statement at the end is the part the "coach" from the ACC couldn't measure.

"It’s the heart that Mendoza showed throughout the season, including in the national title game against the Miami Hurricanes, that made him an attractive prospect for NFL teams."

Nice piece on Fernando. The video sounds as if there is no rush and that there is time for Mendoza to completely grasp new concepts. https://www.nfl.com/news/fernando-mendoza-took-more-snaps-under-center-during-rookie-minicamp-than-he-did-in-three-seasons-of-college

I believe that I saw that he took 3 snaps under center last year and like 2 in 2 years at Cal.  From some reports, he and the OL at the rookie camp got together after hours and practiced the under center work at the hotel. The dude is a worker

From University of Miami -

Miami native and 2026 NFL Draft top pick Fernando Mendoza committed $500,000 to launch the Mendoza Family Fund, supporting multiple sclerosis research in stem cell transplantation at UHealth and the Miller School of Medicine.

Truly a remarkable young man.

That's truly turning the other cheek considering the crimes Miami was trying to commit on him a few months ago.

Two things:

1. It's research for the disease that has crippled his mom.

2. Fernando is a class act all the way.

3. He grew up just miles away from their campus and rooted for them growing up.

4. His mom might get treatments there also.  (I am guessing on this one, but it makes sense.)

His mom is a also a UM alum. It's his hometown community research institution and a pretty good university.
