IUWBB @ Penn State - Saturday, 12.07.24 @ 1:00 on B1G+

Recommended Posts

Can't afford a slow start.  Penn State (8-1) their only loss last Saturday 72-67 to St. John's.  They've scored 89+ points in 5 games.  Syd and Lenee both out.  Jules' problem Wednesday wasn't an injury but a stomach problem that limited her minutes so hopefully she will be at full strength.  Don't like to be pessimistic but I don't have a good feeling about this game.

Don’t know who wins but I predict that Pen State will commit 20 turnovers.

1st loss of season at home vs St. Johns after 17 straight home court wins.

L.M. and K.S. Vs Merkle 6’6” in the post.

Penn State has other productive players as well.

Looking at their previous scores, looks like offense is pretty easy for them. Since we're on the road and offense is hard for us, I'm not seeing a win today.

If we have multiple stretches of 4+ minutes without scoring we could get blown out.

IU Ladies so soft and uncoordinated in traffic = 4 missed layups after breaking press.

what good is it to break the press if you can’t even score on layups.

The other bench players cannot possibly be worse than sandvik. 100% invisible offensively it’s like 4 on 5. Striplin making some buckets today. Actually doing  decent job of breaking the press as well

Indiana centers/post players so difficult for them to make layups and inside shots it’s sickening and (skills overall).

Looking at Penn State crowd and (some other crowds of some other programs) How is Indiana not more of a destination for more of the national top recruits??? Given IU Ladies crowds and facilities.  Give IU Ladies more NIL money.

How open does meister need to be they aren’t within 5 feet of her from 18 feet out. She can make that.

K.S. thus far is giving a nice lesson (so far…and new to the program something by now Lilly should be able to do comfortably and with high consistency).

Karoline Striplin -- welcome to IU.

Have a game.

(Full disclosure -- I"m not watching. Have enough streaming services without re-adding B1G-plus, but am following stats).

T.Moren signature stamp on this game.  Much of it is like watching a tooth ache. Tough overall on defense and execution of high percentage offense once IU settled in (so far)

I'm ecstatic for getting a huge B1G road win against now 8-2 Penn State.  I really was worried that this could turn into a blowout loss.  Thank you IUWBB for throwing my doubt back in my face.

Schedule eases a bit the rest of this month and hopefully we'll get Syd back for our next conference game on the 28th.

  • Sunday the 15th we host Bellarmine
  • Sunday the 22nd we host Oakland
  • Saturday the 28th we host Wisconsin

We should win all three of these comfortably. We'll need to, because the January schedule is ridiculous.

It's so much more fun to have a competent coaching staff that delivers when we start to doubt them.

Moren is top flight. Development of frosh can improve but X’s and O’s, strategy, ability to inspire the team / get that buy in needed, in game activity and adjustments and general recruiting for consistency in competing within the conference and tourneys - all there

This is why this year has been a surprise to me. I thought we had enough talent, albeit, not very athletic to be better than we’ve been. Injuries have been a factor. Hopefully we see more of this Striplan and Shay can up her game a bit too. Nice win today on the road in the empty mausoleum.
