Eric Bossi from last weekend's 3SSB event.  Thompson playing for Indiana Elite 16U.

Throughout the course of this past high school season word started to circulate out of Ohio that Anthony Thompson may be the next elite prospect from out of the state. 247Sports finally got a chance to get an in person look at the product of Lebabon (Ohio) High when he took the floor with Indiana Elite's 16U team. Based on what we had been told about Thompson, expectations were high and he not only met but exceeded them during two weekend viewings.

Standing around 6-foot-7, Thompson is a long-armed lefty with a beautiful looking jump shot, plus athleticism and an advanced skill set. Young for the class of 2026, Thompson won't turn 16 until August and also told us that he's grown around five inches in the last year or so. Odds are the growth spurt isn't done yet and whether he grows or not, Thompson has now commanded our attention and looks like he could be one of the premier small forward prospects in the class.

Thompson can be a bit deferential to teammates at times and could probably stand to be a bit more aggressive attacking the rim given his physical gifts, but he's got plenty of time to completely round out his game. College coaches are well aware of Thompson who already has offers from and has seen high majors like Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, and Xavier just to name a few.

NextUpRecruits @NextUpRecruits--

'26 Anthony Thompson is a special talent from Lebanon, OH. 7’+ wingspan Lefty w/ a smooth shot. A catch & shoot sniper w/ range. Not just a shooter though…scoring in many ways. He will have a 5 by his name soon, in due time.

NOTE:  Plays for Indiana Elite 16U on the 3SSB circuit.

At some point Universities will have their own sports academies for Jr and Sr high school kids It will blur the lines of NIL and scholarships. It's going to be just like the European model. I'm not so sure I disagree with it. Right now my Hoosier Prep Academy would have this young man and Sanderson from the '26 class locked up.

Mgbako>Tucker>Haralson>Thompson>Mitchell...apprentice for a year, start as a sophomore and be a 1st rounder after 2 years. That's a great sales pitch.

If he stays in the 26' class he could be top 2. Stokes hasnt grown in 2 years and He'll be featured next year with a national schedule. He's going to be better than Mgbako and Tucker. I'm really high on Tucker too.
