I'm talking about until we get the Fire Brad Brownell Thread started. Should have clarified. I would take the under on that easy.

But yeah, if we're only interested in winning the press conference and not hiring the best basketball coach you'll likely get your wish.

We aren't called Revolving Door U for no reason.

Your shtick of blaming the fans for IU's failures is sooo stale.

It's only stale because it's been true for so long. Some of these mentioned guys wouldn't have a prayer here.

You think that Brad Brownell would be a choice that would 'win the press conference'?

Because that would be a way of 'saying you don't understand without saying you don't understand.'

PS: IU is called a lot of things, but I've never heard it called "Revolving Door U."

Damn. I didn’t realize that Eric Gordon was a drug dealer or a “gangster”. I know that Kelvin Sampson recruited him.

Bud Mackey was and he was convicted of trafficking crack-cocaine...WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Eli Holman was and he missed his junior season for punching out a referee mid game and then most of his senior season after getting shot in the head at a gang affiliated party.

Sampson was here less than 24 months.

Brad Brownell would say all the right things, gush at the opportunity of returning "home", speak the history of basketball in this state to existence, yada yada yada

He wouldn't win many basketball games however.

I forgot that you have a monopoly on knowledge and the rest of us are too stupid to understand. Can you please use smaller words in the future? Me no think no good.

Yet other schools with similar large and engaged fanbases have success.

You don’t seem to understand the cause of our problem.  IU’s fans are a huge asset.  The coaches we hire and therefore also the people who hired them are the causes of IUBB’s struggles.

YARN | Yeah, well, that's like your opinion, man. | The Big ...

You're seriously saying it's true that the fans are responsible for IU's failures? Lmao man.

Solely responsible? Of course not never said that. But if you don't win overnight, you're on the chopping block quick.

The one thing that worries me about McDermott was that he did get to a P5 team before and it went very poorly....four straight losing seasons at Iowa State, 18-46 in the Big 12.  I will say prior to IU hiring Kelvin Sampson, McDermott was a guy I thought IU should consider based on him putting Northern Iowa on the map.
Not saying I wouldn't want him, but there is that one hiccup in his resume.
I thought that was the Murray State Coach at Iowa State and not McDermott. Am I not remembering correctly?

  1. Fact
  2. Fact
  3. Fact

And none of these things is a bad thing to do. In fact ANYONE we hire, including Wade "strong-@$$" Willie, will cite those exact same sentiments. BTW, no one, and I mean no one, is propping up Brad Brownell as the ultimate hire. The exact same way that no one is propping up Schertz as the ultimate hire. Try comparing Strong-@$$ Willie to McCasland or Devries if you want to be more realistic instead of again pushing disingenuous red herrings.

       4. Opinion

You can count on one hand the number of schools whose fans expect their team to win at the level IU fans expect. The only issue is that IU is the one school who hasn't done it in 30+ years.

Whew...the Chris Beard back and forth was getting very old. I imagine everyone is SOOO happy we can fill several pages of the chat with the Will Wade discourse while Brad Brownell (who, by the way, has Clemson at 9-1 in the ACC after going to the Elite Eight last season) catches strays for no apparent reason.

Anyway, I'd be interested to know some answers to the two following questions: if we assume Brad Stevens is #1 and Dusty May is #2 on Scott Dolson's list and we also end up at the unfortunate position that both say "thanks but no thanks"...if we needed number three to say "yes", who would the third call go to if you were making the hire? Who do you believe would be the third person Scott Dolson would make if he needed the third person to say "yes"?
