Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Hunter was 51st in the 247 rankings for 2018 and still is playing college basketball today.  lol
It's ridiculous 25 year olds playing against 18 year olds. Provably need an age limit. 23 and your done

Longtime lurker here.

Kind of.  I have some perspective here as my kid grew up with Braden and we were around the Westfield program.

His mom was Miss Basketball in Arkansas and met his Dad at Arkansas Tech.  His Dad grew up in Kokomo area (I think played at Western) and then Ark Tech.  Braden lived most of his life in Indiana.  I believe he liked the Crean Zeller teams as a kid but I never saw him in any IU gear.  A lot of MSU gear tho.  My son laughed when I told him people said he was a big IU fan.
He was smaller and played for his Dad’s AAU team on a lower circuit instead of Indy Heat (which he could have), thus the lack of early HM offers.  He also popped for Purdue before the summer of his senior year, where I think he would have garnered plenty of HM offers.  Belmont was the first offer and he was telling people he was going to go there (until Purdue offered).  He did an unofficial to IU for the PSU game before the world shut down.  Lander was there too and then committed soon after.  Plenty of people were telling Archie the kid was special- smartest player and one of the best passers I’ve seen in Indiana HS basketball.  It wasn’t hard to figure out and Painter has admitted as much once he saw his tape.

Anyway, enough about a Purdue player and back to firing this clown that is torpedoing our program into the ground.

I am not the official welcoming committee, but welcome to the board!

From Matt Painter…“I grew up a diehard Indiana fan,” he said. “If Bob Knight would have offered me, it just would have been over.”

If he had come to IU…… he could have been decent coach at IU! lol

"You people would have just run him off before he got it going if he coached at IU."  -Haterz, Probably

Welcome aboard. I’ll let you know where to drop off the membership 6 pack.

I remember officiating some of his AAU games and you could tell he could play.

Tonight was the last night. But I came home after work, cleaned the house, did all the laundry, gathered up all the trash and may or may not be sitting down with a cold beverage since it’s Purdue Eve.

It’s hard to imagine knight or smith or rupp would’ve been too much less successful at osu or ku, respectively. But I suppose it’s possible. But in any event, guys like Roy Williams, Eddie Sutton, and even our own branch McCracken have done it successfully in div 1. Countless others at other levels.

Woodsons problem isn’t where he played basketball, but how he coaches basketball.

And it’s his drive, he has none!

yes you are right ,I didn't even see him play  but seems he just doesn't know how to coach

He was one heck of a player! Played hard but sure as heck doesn’t coach hard.  I think he’s developed too many lazy bad habits from the NBA

I was asked to provide more details about the planes and what I know, so I figured I would post it here.  I somehow have found about 5 different planes that IU has used, is using, may use, ect.  Now I have conflicting details on which plane belongs to who, but have sorted out the mainly it is Ned Pfau and Fuzzy that either own or lease that IU has been using.  Appears they are tight with a guy that owns or operates the Clark Regional airport, so they have access to alot of different planes.  There have been various flights back and forth between Boca Raton (Ned's Place in FL) to either Clark Regional (Ned's place here) and then to Bloomington.  We had tracked 1 of these planes going down to pick up Cignetti shortly after he was hired.  So, where it got interesting is shortly after Christmas 1-3 of these planes had activity to Boston plus other surrounding areas.  I was going to try and copy all of this flight data into excel to see if I can make sense of any of it.  I am sure there are connections between some of these, but I am not sure it is worth my time.  I think everyone knows that Dolson is in contact with Stevens, I think the process of negotiating or offering is taking place.  Only thing I can prove is yes, we have had planes, involved with IU, making several trips to Florida, Boston, and Jeffersonville.  I think a lot of this is expected behavior with ultra wealthy people, but I don't think they are going to Boston to play golf in the winter.

PS.  NBA Trade Deadline is Feb 6th

Man that is some good work. Thank you for all of the information. Someone said the Executive airport in Indy might be a place they would speak to BS dad Mark or a family member from Indianapolis.

Yes there has been some involvement with Indy Executive on a few of those.  Was wondering why there but forgot about the Zionsville component.

Smith was offered by Purdue a month after we hired Woodson and committed just 3 days later. I think it's fair to wonder if Woodson even knew Smith existed.

Problem was Woodson went to Noblesville to see Brian Smith.  :)

Thank you and please do.

I’ll share another story relevant to some of your expertise.

My son, again, was waiting tables and had an older couple in Celtics gear, it was this summer a couple days after the Celtics won the title. He says to them you must be happy and the couple said yes, especially since their son is the GM (which is funny as he is actually the President).  My son tells them he is a big IU fan and that we are always hoping Brad would coach IU.

His Dad says, “us too!  But he would never do that to Butler”

It is a Dad talking, who knows, and things obviously can always change, but I always found it interesting that he said that.

One can dream…
