Well, I wanted to rant, but guess I'll just complain. I despise the inane halftime "interviews" with the coaches as they're leaving the floor. All they want to do is coach their team up in the locker room, but instead have to answer "Coach, what are the keys to winning this game in the second half". Drives me nuts

Every reporter should ask the same question to Woody “why did you do mass substitution to kill your team’s momentum?”

I got this one going off the rails by page 5. I mean, we still have 6 days before we play again.

rock on mods, we love ya!

This week actually been my favorite of the season so far sadly. I don’t have to watch the crap we call IU bball this week. Hopefully things will change.

The potential earnings from Nike outweigh the initial loss. Pretty simple. Nike is preferred over Adidas by most people. The problem is, Indiana is ran by shortsighted morons. It couldn't be an easier to sell Indiana but for some reason they make it really difficult. Nike would likely be more than willing to push out apparel and gear for the largest college basketball fan base in the country.

You're just pulling that out of your rear end.  I don't buy IU apparel based on the brand.  I buy it because the team is kicking a$$ and I want to be part of that.  When they are good, I buy more.  When they suck, not so much.  I imagine most others are the same way.

Yep, this.

I'm not motivated to go buy IU gear whatsoever right now.

However if were 15-3 with a Top 10 record after having trounced Purdue a week ago I'd probably have ordered another IU hoodie I don't need by now. Whether it's, Nike, Adidas, Puma, or LA Gear.

It isn't just getting pulled out of my a$$. It's just using simple logic. Even if we didn't switch to Nike, you use leaving for them as leverage. Indiana doesn't. Indiana has accepted just being a joke and afterthought. There is a reason Indiana apparel from Adidas sucks. Now who puts out something better? What's a brand that has more consumers and preferred by more consumers? Oh yea... Nike! Would it take a few years? Sure. But you don't have successful business without taking risk.

I agree, I don't care what brand is on my shirt other than IU.  You can only put IU or Indiana on a shirt so many ways so I doubt that Nike will find a new way to spell IU or make it look better to the fan base.  jmo

You should check to see how you have that's actually Adidas.

There is simply no logic to your posts on this.  You're basing it on your opinions because you like Nike for whatever reason.  Adidas sees value in a partnership with IU athletics.  Thus they pay a crap load of money for that partnership.  Nike not so much.  You think we can make up the difference by selling more shirts.  Good luck with that.

It isn't an opinion that Nike is a more successful company and preferred by more people.

Cart before the horse my friend.  Are they "preferred" by more people because they sign more "stars" or because they make better stuff?

Last spring, I went a bought a bunch of golf apparel.  I ended up with Adidas stuff because the Nike stuff just plain sucked, didn't fit, etc.

Adidas doesn't see value in Indiana. They see value in Kansas. They see an easy and cheap contract with Indiana. Indiana signed an extension in 2015-2024 of 53.6 million or about 6.7 million per year. That's it. Indiana is WAAAAAAY behind Louisville and Kansas when it comes to Adidas.

Both. Better products and way bigger stars along with being THE brand of the NFL, NBA and WNBA.

As far as Indiana deal goes, it is currently behind at least Louisville, Kansas and Nebraska.

Edit: also behind Washington.

Why do you think they are behind? You seem to keep missing the facts I tried to help with before. It is because of football. Nike doesn’t want IU, yes, of course they try and also use it with Adidas as leverage. You assume a lot. This is about funding all sports for these companies and not just basketball.

IU is good at some other sports that interest Adidas as well. Men’s soccer is one. So that helps but neither company is interested for basketball alone. It isn’t the money maker you think it is. They just started making the tournament again, I mean, Nike might have not picked up phone this time and Adidas might want a discount … joking … but seriously.

You think Nike is bad at business now too? That they wouldn’t jump at the chance to ride this cash cow if it was one?  Twitter follows don’t equate to apparel sales.

Uhh... Because Indiana is behind those schools? At least as of 2019. Louisville, Kansas, Nebraska, Washington all have bigger contracts.

With a rising women's basketball program, it's important.

Remember that last time we went to the Final Four?

Even women don't care about the WNBA.  :)
