IUWBB vs Michigan - Thursday, 2/16/23 @ 8:30 on BTN

Recommended Posts

Is this not a great time to be an IU bball fan?  The 'Jills' (20-5) (10-4) are 7-2 in away games and 4-0 on neutral courts so we'll need to be sure and bring our "A" game.  Need bounce back games in terms of scoring from Yarden and Sydney and would love to see Sara with another outstanding shooting night.    GO HOOSIERS!

It seems Sara Scalia is adjusted now in her transition.  (She is looking a lot better in system). and coming off bench…6 starters.

Parrish and Garzon both, will have 2 excellent upcoming games.

Don’t get to up with a win or to down with a loss.  After a day move on to next game. (per T. Moren).

Perspective: Always a great win at OSU….OSU injuries and tired legs catching up with them and IU Ladies took advantage of opportunities.

IU Ladies will have to bring a really good game vs Michigan.

IU needs to bring a good game every time out.  There are no easy wins left on the schedule or in post-season.  That said, it is nice to say they need a really good game compared to needing a great game.

Scalia is playing real defense now, too. Keep it up!

I was including both offense and defense in system.  T. Moren stated that Sara’s really good buy in and play defensively has given her more confidence on the offensive end.

I would beg to differ.

The (likely) 1-16 game in Assembly Hall will be a cake walk in the NCAA Tournament and a "D" game will win that. Also, the (likely) 1 vs 8-9 game in Big Ten and NCAA Tourney can probably be won with a good but not perfect effort (maybe a "B-").

Otherwise I would agree that the remaining conference showdowns, the final two days of Big Ten Tourney, and March Madness beginning in Sweet 16, will be against top 15 or better squads and Hoosiers will need to be at their best and bring an "A" mindset to emerge victorious.

They hopefully can bring their maximum every time, but can get away with not doing so in the first three contests I mentioned (particular first NCAA game). Otherwise need they need to be in absolute top form to get where we want them to.

My preference in the early rounds of the tournament is to put them in their place quickly so we can utilize our bench and not need our primary 5-6 players playing deep into the second half.

IU Ladies DO NOT want to follow IU men habits vs Northwestern (and 1986 vs Cleveland State) whether falling way behind and have to play catch-up or losing a big lead.
IU Ladies just need to do what they do.

No peeking ahead to Sunday ladies.  Focus solely on kicking some Wolverine butt back to Ann Arbor.

Even more so after reading some of the comments from Wiggins (sophomore) and Crockett (freshman) that left Indiana to play at Michigan.

“Michigan is the reason to play outside of Indiana, like there’s something bigger here that you want to be a part of,” Wiggins said. “IU’s a great school, they have a great program and not to knock off on anything (they do), but I think Michigan has something to prove, that basketball doesn’t just live in Indiana, it’s in Michigan also.”

“Going into Assembly Hall and being from Indiana is definitely very special,” Crockett said Feb. 7. “Growing up an IU fan and being able to play in that gym is definitely gonna be very awesome. It’ll be even sweeter to win there in front of all those people.”

It's easy to make predictions until Mackenzie Holmes catches the ball in the post and Grace Berger starts firing from the mid-range.

When that happens I have a prediction of my own.

So we get to hear the announcers talk about Caitlyn Clark for an extra two hours. Great!!

Funny…maybe since they may be a little winded talking about Clark, and (Czinano and Bluder and Iowa)…maybe they will seek to introduce some different (NOT NEW) names in a good more fresh IU Ladies story.

IU Ladies beat Michigan tonight solidly.
