NOTES

Indiana is off to a 2-0 start after opening week, recording a pair of wins over Vermont and UMass Lowell at home. Senior forward Mackenzie Holmes led the way with 16.5 points over the pair of games, while adding 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

IU and Tennessee met during the pandemic season in 2020 in a game scheduled midway through the non-conference schedule due to COVID-19 cancellations. The Lady Vols traveled to Bloomington on Dec. 17, 2020. The Hoosiers fell 66-58 in the matchup, its first in the series with the SEC foe since its only other meeting in 1987 - a 91-59 win for then No. 1 Tennessee in Cincinnati, Ohio in the Communiplex Classic.

Junior guard Chloe Moore-McNeil returns to her home state on Monday night. The Sharon, Tenn. native will play her first collegiate game in the state she grew up in, which is five hours from Knoxville. The Hoosiers also have a former Lady Vol on their staff in director of player development Briana Schomaeker, who played for them from 2008-12.

Returning to the lineup this season are a pair of All-Americans in graduate student guard Grace Berger and Holmes. The pair was named to the 10-member preseason All-Big Ten team.

The Hoosiers were also selected to finish second amongst the Big Ten media and third by the league's coaches in the annual preseason polls.

Seven new players were added to the roster in the offseason in four freshmen and three transfers. Highlighting the freshmen group is Garzon while the trio of transfers has a wealth of experience including the 2020 Indiana Miss Basketball Sydney Parrish, who arrives after two years at Oregon.

Three players earned spots on the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame starting five preseason watch lists in October. Sara Scalia is up for the Ann Meyers Drysdale award (nation's top shooting guard), Grace Berger is a three-time preseason honoree for the Cheryl Miller Award (nation's top small forward) and Mackenzie Holmes repeats on the Lisa Leslie Award (nation's top center). Fan voting is now live at hoophallawards.com.

This team is deeeep

Also Moren's confidence with her bench going to Meister and Bargesser in the opening quarter of a high level game.  Years past it seemed like Moren was way too reluctant to go deep with her bench even with big leads in the 4th Q.
