Class of '66 Old Fart

(2025) - Maya Makalusky to INDIANA

Recommended Posts

Might be the understatement of the year, but Moren really turned this program around. It's been pretty incredible. Let's hope we see continued success in the Big Ten and tourney.

Re-tweet from her high school --  2025 #iuwbb commit @MMakalusky is a lights out three-point shooter. She's shot 40.2% on 246 three-point attempts through two seasons of high school basketball, and should bring immense value to @IndianaWBB as a floor spacer.

In a nail biter, Hamilton SE 71-69 win over Noblesville.  Maya 30p; 7r; 2a.  She was 6-11 on 3s and that's not all that unusual as she shot 40% in both her freshman and sophomore years.  She catches and she shoots; no wasted motion.  She picked up her 3rd foul early in the 3rd and her 4th with 2 min. left in the 3rd.  Sat out the next 4 min. before returning to action.

It was a really scrappy game.  Her 3rd foul was a horrible call as she cleanly blocked a shot from behind.  The official who called the foul was behind Maya and there's no way he could see the actual play.  Then later in the game a Noblesville player's chin was called for a foul when her chin collided with the swinging elbow of an HSE girl.

HSE (16-1) with an easy 82-63 win over Carroll (4-13).  Maya 26p;  6r;  2a;  3s;  0b;  2t      9-19 FG;  1-3 on 3s;  7-7 FT

Haven't watched that many of her games but her clear height advantage (6'4") at the high school level gets her points and rebounds she won't get at the college level.   Doesn't always seem fluid when she makes moves to the basket but can finish with either hand.  Very good FT shooter averaging 84% from the line.
