Watched the 2nd half on stream while simultaneously watching our 2nd half. Flory missed the 2nd quarter due to some injury. Zionsville was up 32-16 at the half as a result. After halftime he was back out there and Kokomo made a nice run and got to within 5 or 6, but then Zionsville pulled back ahead and maintained a 10 point advantage for the rest of the game. Another unfortunate game of a team surrounding Flory and leaving Kokomo wide open from deep and Kokomo just doesn't have the necessary talent to make them pay. That's the gameplan and we're seeing it most games now. Kid is doing himself a disservice if he stays in Kokomo his senior year. It's sad. A school this size should be able to find better talent. We had plenty of it back when I went there.

All that said credit to Zionsville. They shoot the ball well, have great patience to eat away clock (don't get me started on how much I hate that it's 2022 and we still don't employ a shot clock) until they find a good look, and stuck to the gameplan on Flory even after Kokomo got close in the 2nd half.

Sucks for Cal/Painter to make the trip to see him barely used. His lone 2 points apparently came off a sky hook in the first quarter.

Didn't the talent level start to drop when Basil Mawbey became coach and he played his slow methodical plodding game?

Kokomo probably has the same problem as other towns that were mainly manufacturing towns. Places like New Castle, Connorsville, Muncie, Richmond were all big time basketball tiwns that now are not as good.

Basil is a little before my time OF ;)

Throughout the 2000's and early 2010's we always had talented teams, and we were really tough to beat at home.

Side note, Basil was sitting on Anderson's bench when they visited Kokomo last year. Don't know if he's an assistant or just an advisor.

Mawbey  won a state championship at Connersville.  I think he had a few good teams at Kokomo. The decline at those NCC schools seemed to coincide with the decline in the auto industry.

The stories I heard are that the kids who lived on the playground courts hated his style and stopped trying out for his teams
