Timme is a perfect college player. Really good, but his game doesn't translate well to the NBA, and so he stays in college for 3-4 years. UNC used to get a bunch of the McD AAs who were great college players, but middling or not even NBA guys, who stuck around and it was why they were maybe the best program of the last 20 years. Talent + continuity is huge. Trayce was that guy for IU, but unfortunately he was never surrounded with talent to take advantage

He was surrounded with players who stuck around for 3-4 years because they weren't NBA talent!

Completely agree, Nova is similar. I'd take a team full of All-Americas that stuck around for 3-4 years that had enough talent to win a lot in college while not getting drafted high. We've been stuck in the good post or good perimeter players for the last half decade-ish. We'll get there eventually. Let's find our Timme and Co.

Culture rebounds.    Houston one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the country

Lid on the basket scrimmages are the best drill in basketball.

They're one of the teams that will fight you. They might lose but you'll know you played them. How many rotation players are they without or were without?

Curbelo is an absolute hot mess.

Did you guys know he’s averaging 6 turnovers per 40 minutes, and shooting 34% fg and 18% three pt for the season?!?

Good lord that’s harsh. And against a fantastic defensive team like Houston? Yikes

Illinois doesn’t need to put a lid on the basket for scrimmages just let Curbelo shoot every time

I recall looking up his AAU shooting numbers when Archie was after him and thinking, “just what we need, another slight, below-the-rim guard who can’t shoot.”

If he came here, people would’ve already stuck “available for sub-lease” signs in his apartment windows.
